Selected Highlights from this Issue: 
  • Captain Ralph E. Lower (class of 1944), a veteran of the Second World War, was killed while serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea.
  • William R. Woodward (class of 1934) received a patent for an instrument to a ship's position at sea.
  • Several Dickinsonians won seats in the House of Representatives, including S. Walter Stauffer (class of 1912) and Edward J. Bonin (class of 1833).
  • The first edition of Dickinson College Service Plates, which featured designs of Old West, the Old Stone Steps, East College, and Denny Hall, were released for sale by the Wedgwood company in England.
  • The Library Guild created two memorial library funds with donations of almost $5,500.
  • Sidney W. Bookbinder (class of 1935) was elected National Judge Advocate of the Jewish War Veterans of the United States.
