Mermaid Players' Production of "The Tempest" Opens

Fri., Feb. 29, 2008

A production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest opened at 8:00pm in Mathers Theatre. Presented by the Mermaid Players and the Department of Theatre and Dance, the production ran from February 29-March 4. This production, conceived and designed by Professor Todd Wronski, sought to redress "critical negativity" toward the character of Prospero and the "perceived victimology" of Caliban and Miranda, while still considering 20th-century interpretations of the play which have changed the way in which it has been interpreted. Fred Morsell, Jeremy Pesner and Lindsay Anderson portrayed Prospero, Caliban and Miranda, respectively.
