This article by Ben Feinberg in The Chronicle Review discusses the shortcomings of study abroad programs in terms of student development and broadening student world-views. Feinber argues that many study abroad programs are geared toward "group dynamics and individual growth", rather than learning about the world and breaking down stereotypes. He contends that many "students return from study-abroad programs having seen the world, but the world they return to tell tales about is more often than not the world they already knew".
