  • The Raleigh News and Observer declared Alexander R. Burkot (class of 1930) the "embodiment of an American legend" in a personality sketch called "Tar Heel of the Week."
  • Armour & Company in Chicago appointed John M. Hoerner (class of 1931) as vice president.
  • George F. Myers (class of 1942) took over from his father, John E. Myers (class of 1912), as president of the Lemoyne Trust Company.
  • Dr. Whitfield J. Bell Jr. (class of 1935) published the first volume of The Papers of Benjamin Franklin
  • Professor Herbert F. Thomson discussed Dickinson's collection of lecture notes from students in Dr. Charles Nisbet's classes between 1787 and 1793.
