218th Opening Convocation
Tue., Aug. 28, 1990
This opening convocation ceremony was held on Tuesday, August 28, 1990 at 7:30 pm in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. Following the academic procession and invocation, the matriculation of students was presented by the Dean of Admissions and Enrollment. Then the Dean of the College presented all other new members of the college. Next was the presentation of honors and awards; the Senior and Junior Sophisters and Phi Beta Kappa were recognized for academic excellence, and Resident Advisers, Lindback Scholars, and the Class of 1902 Award, along with the Shuman Awards, were presented for leadership. President Fritschler then gave remarks on the opening of the 218th year of the college. Faculty promotions, new appointments, and honor prizes and scholarship awards were presented. Several individuals were recognized for excellence in special fields, and the Dana Scholars and students on the Dean's List were announced.
