Dickinson Collegium Presents "A Christmas Concert"

The Music Department presented the Dickinson Collegium's "A Christmas Concert: 7 Centuries of Christmas Music" at 8:00pm on Sat., Dec. 2 and at 4:00pm on Sun., Dec. 3 in Memorial Hall. The ensemble performed Samuel Scheidt's "O Jesulein süss" and "In dulci jubilo"; Franz Biebl's "Ave Maria"; the Basque carol "Gabriel's Message" (arr. D. Willcocks); Tomás Luis de Victoria's "Duo Seraphim"; Orlando di Lasso's "Quem vidistis, pastores?"; the traditional French carol "Angels We Have Heard on High" (arr. Parker/Shaw); Guillaume Morlaye's "Pavane & Galliard"; the 15th century English carol "Coventry Carol" (arr. M. Shaw); Benjamin Britten's "In the bleak mid-winter"; Michael Praetorius' "Joseph lieber, Joseph mein"; Heinrich Schütz's "Ach Herr, du Schöpfer aller Ding"; Giovanni Gabrieli's "Hodie Christus natus est"; the 14th century Spanish carols "Laudemus Virginem", "Polorum Regina", and "Splendens Ceptigera"; Patick Hadley's "I Sing of a Maiden"; Richard Rodney Bennett's "There is no Rose", "Nowel", and "What Sweeter Music"; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Ave Verum Corpus, K. 618"; the traditional carol "My Dancing Day" (arr. Ralph Vaughan Williams); the traditional Basque carol "I Saw a Maiden" (arr. E. Pettman); Charles Ives' "A Christmas Carol"; and the traditional English carol "Wassail Song" (arr. Parker/Shaw).
