Haiti Benefit Concert Takes Place at Carlisle Theatre

A concert to benefit survivors of the January 2010 Haitian earthquake raised $17,124.42. Performers included the D-Tones, Infernos, Octals, Syrens, Dance Theater Group, Synergy, Hypnotic, Third Degree, Run With It, and local groups REACH! and the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.

Belles Lettres and Union Philosophical Societies present "Honorable Men"

Through a combined effort of Belles Lettres and Union Philosophical Societies, "Honorable Men" was performed in Bosler Hall to an "enthusiastic" crowd. This play was a satiric production written by Dickinsonians Martin O. Kahn and William R. Woodward.  The satire was about a Dickinson faculty meeting with eighteen professors. Woodward also played Dr. Gorman, the president of "Drinkinson College."    

The Dickinson Players present "The Dover Road"

The Dickinson Players' presentation of "The Dover Road" at the Carlisle High School auditorium was well received by students, faculty, and Carlisle residents. The lead role of Mr. Latimer was interpreted by James W. Nelson. Helen Baker played Anne and Robert Miller played Leonard. In addition, James Taylor and Ruth LaBar played the characters Nicholas and Eustasia.

Dickinson Players presents "Icebound"

Directed by W. H. Henderson and written by Pultizer price winner Owen Davis, Dickinson players performed the three-act drama, "Icebound"  in Bosler Hall. The play was positively received by an audition of 250 people. The cast included : Eleanor Waugh, Elizabeth Ralston, Don Rust, Olive Fitzgerald, LeRoy Trayer, Helen O'Hara, Leora Williams, Barbara Harris, Fred McDonnell, Bruce Wagner, Richard Hunter and Edward Blessing . The stage manager was Lockwood Fogg with his assistants Harold Missal, Samuel Spragins, James Clune and Jack Evans. Willard Fohl was the business manager.

The Women's Chorus Performs at Boiling Springs

The Women's Chorus traveled from Dickinson to Boiling Springs for a performance at the Methodist Episcopal Church on May 8, 1929. Members of the Women's Chorus included Marion Baker, Flora Lynch, Katharine Morris, Evelyn Groves, Sara Lukens, Amelia LeFevre, Patience Hartman, Elizabeth Tipton, and Elsie Ferriss. Bessie Baker was the accompanist. They performed songs such as "Sunshine in Rainbow Valley" by Hamblen, "Night Divine" by Offenbach-Bliss, "Dreaming of My Old Home, Sweet Home" by O'Hara and many more.
