Mermaid Players' Production of "Cabaret" Opens

PerksDanceMusicTheatre Performs with Dance Theatre Group

Members of the Dickinson Dance Theatre Group performed with PerksDanceMusicTheatre, a company of three dancers and three musicians from New York City. Perks is "known for their humor, athleticism and sensual imagery" and expresses the interaction between dance and music. The production was performed November 17 and 18 at 8:00pm in Mathers Theatre.

Mermaid Players' Production of "The Spitfire Grill" Opens

The Spitfire Grill, a musical created by James Valcq and Fred Alley, opened at 8:00pm in Mathers Theatre. Presented by the Mermaid Players and the Department of Theatre and Dance, the production ran from October 27-30. The musical is based on a film of the same name, written and directed by Lee David Zlotoff.

Mermaid Players' Production of "The Tempest" Opens

A production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest opened at 8:00pm in Mathers Theatre. Presented by the Mermaid Players and the Department of Theatre and Dance, the production ran from February 29-March 4. This production, conceived and designed by Professor Todd Wronski, sought to redress "critical negativity" toward the character of Prospero and the "perceived victimology" of Caliban and Miranda, while still considering 20th-century interpretations of the play which have changed the way in which it has been interpreted.

Homecoming 1991 & WWII Memorial Programs

Over Homecoming Weekend of 1991, a program entitled "The War That Shaped Our World" allowed the Dickinson community to remember and consider World War II. Other events held during the weekend included a memorial service for alumni veterans, a film series, an exhibit in the Weiss Center, a symposium, a tour of campus with reference to the war, and a reception in honor of the war-time classes.
