Dance Alloy and Black Stalin Perform "Roots/Crossroutes"

The Department of Theatre and Dance presented a special performance of the show Roots/Crossroutes at 8:00pm on April 3 in Mathers Theatre. The show focused on the impact of immigration within the Caribbean community of St. Thomas. Black Stalin composed and performed the music for the show and Dance Alloy choreographed and performed the dance elements of the production.

Mermaid Players' Production of "The Winter's Tale" Opens

The Winter's Tale, a play by William Shakespeare, opened at 8:00pm in Mathers Theatre. The show was presented by the Department of Dramatic Arts, the Mermaid Players and the Shakespeare: Text and Performance class and ran from April 12-16. Aside from the waltzes in Act I, all of the music for this production was composed and performed by the Department of Dramatic Arts' 1996 guest artist, Ellen Mandel. Excerpts from the production were performed on April 10 during Common Hour along with an behind-the-scenes look at the making of the show.

Mermaid Players' Production of "Our Town" Opens

Our Town, a play by Thornton Wilder, opened at 8:00pm in Mathers Theatre. Presented by the Department of Dramatic Arts and Mermaid Players, the production ran from April 7-11. This show was selected to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mathers Theatre, for it was the first show to be performed in the new theatre when it opened in 1965.

1994 Freshman Plays Open

The 1994 Freshman Plays, called Filling the Empty Space, were presented over three days in Mathers Theatre. Presented by the Department of Dramatic Arts and the Advanced Directing class, the six one-act plays were dividing in two bills. The first bill was performed on November 17, the second on November 18 and both were performed on November 19.
