Establishment of Sophia Ava Asbell Chair in Judaic Studies

On Friday, January 30th, 2004, the Sophia Ava Asbell Chair in Judaic Studies was officially established, and Professor Andrea B. Lieber was appointed its first incumbent.  The chair was named for the older daughter of Yale Asbell, Esq. '78.
