Tina Chancey Performs

The Music Department presented "Medieval and Appalachian Fusion," a faculty recital by Tina Chancey, featuring Hesperus members Bruce Hutton and Scott Reiss, at 8:15pm in Rubendall Recital Hall. Chancey performed a medley of the 12th century French tune "Orientus Partibus" and the Appalachian piece "Chinquapin Pie"; the traditional tune "Captain Kidd"; a medley of the 14th century Italian piece "Alta Trinita" and the Appalachian tune "Railroadin' Through the Rocky Mountains"; the 14th century French tune "Contre le Temps"; the Louisville Jug Band's "Chicken Tree"; Lillian Glinn's "Shake It Down"; the traditional pieces "The Drunkard's Lament" and "The Lone Star Rag"; a medley of the French Canadian tune "Beatrice" and "Ukrainian Tune"; Cliff Edwards' "For No Good Reason at All"; a medley of the traditional pieces "Devil and the Farmer's Wife" and "Campbell's Retreat"; the 14th century Italian piece "Estampie Belicha"; Jimmy Driftwood's "Run, Johnny, Run"; Bertha "Chippie" Hill's "Pratt City"; a medley of the 13th century Spanish piece "Cantiga" and the Appalachian tune "The Ballad of Little Sadie"; the Cajun tune "Valse de Guedan"; a medley of Machaut's "Douce Dame" and the 14th century English piece "Ductia"; Robert Johnson's "Sweet Home Chicago"; and a medley of the 14th century Italian piece "Saltarello" and Tin Pan Alley's "The Blues My Naughty Sweetie Gives to Me".
