Symphonic Band Premiere Concert
Sun., Apr. 28, 1985
The newly formed Dickinson Symphonic Band gave it's debut performance in Rubendall Recital Hall. The band consisted of 50 players, encompassing faculty, students, and administration, under the direction of Buzz Jones. Student Dave Strohmetz, percussionist in the band, explained that "There were a lot of musicians on campus who did not have the opportunity to perform because the wind ensemble and orchestra took only a limited number of players", and that participating was enjoyable as "the members get to play a wide variety of music similar to what they played in their high school bands".
