In this clip from the start of the 1983 Commencement address, Sir Richard Attenborough makes several jokes and refers to his recent film Gandhi. Attenborough, a British actor and director, also receives an honorary degree during Commencement on May 22, 1983.
This post features video clips from Dickinson College's 1929 Commencement Weekend, including the Alumni parade on West High Street, academic processions for Baccalaureate and Commencement, as well as clips from the first Commencement held inside the Alumni Gymnasium on June 10, 1929 .
The Dickinson Alumnus magazine produced this film, which includes footage of Fred Pierce Corson's presidential inauguration on May 4, 1935, the 1935 Commencement on June 10, a football game against Gettysburg in fall 1934, different views of campus, the Law School's Trickett Hall, a snowball fight in front of Denny Hall, as well as a train going through snow on West High Street.
This post features videos of the 1928 commencement weekend, including the Alumni parade, the Class of 1928's procession, and shots of the exterior and interior of the Alumni Gymnasium, which was in the process of being built. Some of the clips in this video, such as those showing the location of the new gym, were filmed before June 1928. Commencement is held at Bosler Hall on June 4, 1928.
