Famed author and lecturer Dr. George A. Coe speaks on student government in colleges in chapel. Subjects for debate this year are chosen by the Pennsylvania State Debating Association and twenty men are chosen for the Dickinson debate squad. The football team takes a victory over the Pennsylvania Military College. Dr. Kirby Page will address the joint Y.M.C.A. and Y.W.C.A. meeting on world affairs. The College gets excited about homecoming weekend. Try-outs begin for the varsity basketball team.

Plans are underway for the annual Home-Coming Celebration. A large four foot by six foot college calendar marked with all college events for the year will be placed in the entrance hall to chapel. Four sororities pledge new members. From now on, the Denny bell tower will ring to commemorate any athletic victory. The football team takes a victory over Ursinus.

The football team opens their season with an 8 to 0 win over Juniata College. The College Body looses 198 students from last year who fail to return for various reasons. The Athletic Association debates dropping baseball as an Intercolligate sport at Dickinson. 103 men, 63% of the freshman class, pledge to fraternities.

President Morgan speaks out on rushing as fraternities plan to pledge new members this week. Professor Quimbly defends America's youth for not being as devilish and frank as many make them out to be and also speaks out about evolution. The All College Social Committee begins to plan the College Picnic. The first Women's swimming meet is held.

Freshman class enrollment is a record high. Practices begin for what is promised to be "Dickinson's greatest football team of the present decade." Fraternities commence rushing for new members. The College is left a large sum by Robert Weaver, class of 1875. Faculty changes this year bring May Morris as head librarian, Frances A. Janney as Women's Athletic Director, Henry W. Monyer as lab assistant, and Herbert L. Davis returns after two years to the chemistry department.

The German Club sponsors a movie entirely in German. The Junior Prom Committee is announced. The story is told of former students climbing atop Old West to fill the bell with water so that it froze and could not call them chapel in the morning. A Faculty Committee is appointed to examine the quality of work by the students and to consider a need for a comprehensive test at the end of a college course. There is a call for the community to consider sterilization laws “for human betterment.” Stewart Patterson, Temperance leader, wills the country to bring back Prohibition.

The Senate’s request for an extended Thanksgiving Break was denied by the Board of Deans. The Greek Club is to present Aristophanes’ The Birds. The College Date Bureau is now available for student use. The men are to submit their height, name, and class, and the women are then allowed to choose a date from the list. The football team loses to Franklin and Marshall, and two of Dickinson’s star players are injured. The soccer team closes its season with a loss to Franklin and Marshall.

In honor of Armistice Day, Gilbert Malcolm gives a talk entitled “Memories of a Soldier,” based on his experiences fighting in World War I. A Peace Panel, held at a local church, discusses whether a pacifistic plan or educating the common man in defensive warfare is a better plan to lead us to world peace. The Senate recommends to the faculty that the students be given a three day Thanksgiving break. A College Date Bureau will be established under the All-College Social Committee.

The newly-formed Theological Society holds their first meeting. The Dramatic Club is to present “A Doll’s House.” The football team beats Haverford.

The “Elect-Landon” club holds its first and only pre-election meeting. The Dramatic Club considers a play with a murder-mystery plot. The Tribunal punishes more freshmen, both men and women, for disobeying the Freshmen Rules. The Dickinson Democratic Club holds their final meeting. Dickinson decides to abolish class offices, as it hinders the advance of the college. The football team beats Swarthmore in the Homecoming game. The women’s Interclass hockey schedule is posted.

The football team will face Swarthmore in the Homecoming game. The Joint Society dissolves in order to reform its two original parts: the Union Philosophical and Belles Lettres Societies. An All-College Halloween party will be held in the gym. The school plans for the enlargement of Biddle Field. The last train has gone through West High Street. A Dickinsonian poll reveals that Landon is in the lead for the presidential election and is more often favored by students. The football team loses to Lafayette.

The Belles Lettres Society arranges a program to celebrate the 150th anniversary of its founding. Several freshman are punished (in comical ways) for disobeying the Freshmen Rules. Medical care is now free to all male students on campus. Fraternities pledged seventy freshmen, and sororities pledge forty-one freshmen. The football team loses to Moravian.

Fifteen Dickinson students chosen to represent "Who's Who" among the American university and college students. ROTC selects nominees for female representative, seven to be elected at the Military Ball. Noted author and lecturer James T. Flexner to speak on British spy Major John Andre and his internment in Carlisle. Unbeaten 1937 football team to hold reunion at South College.

Mrs. Helen Wing, wife of Dr. Herbert Wing, Jr., passed away after a lingering illness. Doll Dance scheduled to be held on 17 December. The National Poetry Association announces that its "National Intercollegiate Poetry Anthology for 1953" will include a poem by Bert Garber. Pi Delta Epsilon, national honorary journalistic fraternity, taps three Dickinsonians: Robert High, Sidney Kline, and Harold Hoffman. First Boyd Lee Spahr Lecture to be delivered by Dr. Page Smith, a research scholar with the Institute of Early American History and Culture.

A series of sixteen worship services featuring the preaching of outstanding American clergymen and entitled "Religion in Today's World" will be presented by the College this term during chapel. Three teams remain undefeated in the Inter-Fraternity football league. The Dickinson Football team defeats Allegheny College.

Junior class, Class of 1943, elects president. Student Senate decides that Rushing will not occur during the summer session. the 169th Commencement. Approximately 120 students are enrolled for the summer session. the 1942 Microcosm comes out on time. Six high school seniors are awarded Trustee scholarships. A joint-committee is created to organize and coordinate extra-curricular activities to to help with defense service or preparation. The most recent Student Opinion Surveys of America poll has revealed that students believe that war increases opportunities. The Red Cross to create a unit on Dickinson's campus which will be affiliated with the Carlisle branch. Plans are starting to be made in case of attack, specifically a mock air raid will be staged on Sunday (directions for the air raid are included in this issue). Metzger Hall held an open house for faculty last week.

Dickinson football won against Susquehanna last weekend and will face Gettysburg this coming weekend. Petition presented with 450 signatures at the beginning of Chapel about giving athletic scholarships to students--this was the result of built up tensions. Improvements to be made to Conway Hall. Editorial remembers the college band of two years ago, bemoaning the current status of the band and encourages the band to rediscover this previous life, energy and precision. Dickinsoni-Anne parodies Emily Post and what she'd say about attending chapel and going to class.

The second annual Parents' Day, originally Dad's Day and extended last year to include both parents, is also being called Family Day in the hopes that a student's entire family will join in the festivities. A Student Opinion Surveys of America poll came out saying that most college men want to finish college before being inducted into the Army and that they would rather wait to be drafted than volunteer in the case of war. Alpha Sigma Gamma, the honorary journalistic fraternity, taps two new members. President Corson encourages students to read more often. An article outlines the schedule for the new freshmen class "How to Make Good in College." Dickinson students campaign for J. Pearson Miller for burgess of Carlisle. A council is created for Conway Hall. Editorial on issue of female cheerleaders: the article calls for male and female involvement in cheerleading. Editorial on recent changes to relationship between students and the Carlisle police.

Metzger Hall will revise its constitution in the coming year. Wheel and Chain continues its book drive for the Negro Community Center in Carlisle that formally opened on October 26. New mandatory class, "How to Make Good in College," created for Freshmen. Nation wide poll discovered that most American college students are opposed to changing the Neutrality Law to allow supply ships to be armed to enter war zones. Committee recommends that college end its policy on extra-curricular activities requiring participation with limits on number of activities as student may participate with. The thirty-one students arrested last week have each been ordered to pay a fine of $1.62. Dickinson's first all-college choir is created. Sororities gain new members as bids were accepted. The Dickinsonian will be involved in a nation-wide Student Opinion Surveys of America which will try to compile data on student's opinions (the first question will be "Are you for or against changing the neutrality laws so that American ships may be armed and sent into war zones?"). Reading periods created in each course to allow students the opportunity for more independent research. Thirty-one undergraduate men arrested during a celebratory march to Metzger Hall. A mixed recreational swimming is being planned.
