Secretary of the Treasury Roger Brooke Taney writes a "private" letter to George Newbold and thanks him for his assistance in getting a $500,000 bank draft returned. Taney also informs Newbold that David Henshaw "will explain to you my wishes that you should spend this winter in Washington in order to represent the selected Banks." Transcript included.
