Spencer Fullerton Baird, Assistant Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, writes nine letters to George Lawrence in which he discusses the sending of small birds of the Grayson and Xantus Collections and Mexico to Lawrence, as well as the examination of Hammond's Fly-Catcher, specimens of Attila, and fish specimens.
