Lecture by Dr. Philip Betancourt

Dr. Philip Betancourt, Laura H. Carnell Professor of Art History and Archeology at Temple University, gave a lecture in the Stern Center Great Hall titled "Excavating the Earliest copper Smelting Workshop on Crete". The lecture looked at the how the Bronze Age economy of Minoan Crete, based on the manufacturing of copper and bronze goods, began, based on evidence found in the Chrysokamino copper smelting workshop in northeast Crete (3000-2000 BC). The lecture was part of the program for the dedication of the W.M. Keck Foundation Center for Human Origins and Ancient Cultures Archeology Laboratory.
