Charles G. Beetem, 1893
Formal portrait of Charles G. Beetem.
The handwritten note on the reverse side reads: "Photo of a nice, little boy. 1893 - 12 years old and ready for two weeks at the World's Fair in Chicago. - My mother had this photo made thinking I might get lost from my father and she would never see me again. - At this time the kidnapping of Charlie Rose was still fresh in the minds of mothers all over the country. Charlie was never seen again, nor was his body every discovered."
