1958 Winter Choral Concert

Presented by the Department of Music, the College Choir gave their winter concert in the College Chapel at 8:15pm. Their program began with F. Melius Christiansen's "Beautiful Savior", William Byrd's "Ave Verum Corpus", and Pietro Yon's "Gesu Bambino". For the second section, the choir sang Gabriel Faure's "In Paradisum", Johannes Brahms "Cradle Song of the Virgin", and Randall Thompson's "The Last Words of David". After intermission, the program continued with Brahms' "Down Low in the Valley" and "The Still of Night", Thompson's "The Lark in the Morn", and Deems Taylor's "Waters Ripple and Flow". In the fourth part of the program, the choir performed four Christmas carols arranged by Jack Jarrett: "Stille Nacht", "Angels We Have Heard on High", "What Child is This?", and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". The show was concluded with a selection of music from the third act of Richard Wagner's Die Meistersinger
