1967 Christmas Concert

The College Choir and the Chapel Choir, assisted by the Dickinson String and Brass Ensembles, presented the annual Christmas music concert at 3:00pm in Holland Union Theatre. The concert opened with three Christmas carols from Renaissance Spain: "Riu, Riu, Chiu", "Dadme albricais, hijos d'Eva", and "E la don don, Verges Maria". The College Choir continued with two Nativity Motets of the High Renaissance: "Dies Sanctificatus" by Palestrina and "O Magnum Mysterium" by Vittoira. The Chapel Choir then sang Orlando Gibbons' "This is the Record of John", William Byrd's "An Earthly Tree", John Amner's "Lift Your Heads, O Ye Gates", "Lute Book Lullaby", Sweelinck's "Hodie Christus Natus Est", and Heinrich Schuetz's "Also hat Gott die Welt geliebt". After the intermission, the choirs sang Franz Liszt's "Christus ist geboren"; Felix Mendelssohn's "Frohlocket ihr Volker"; Anton Bruckner's "Virga Jesse Floruit"; Michael Praetorius' "Ein kind geborn zu Bethlehem", "Psallite", "Es ist ein ros entsprungen", and "Hosianna"; Schuetz' "Dank sagen wir alle Gott"; and Bach's "Break Forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light".
