Opening Convocation for the 2005-2006 Academic Year

This opening ceremony was held on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 4:00 pm. The academic procession began on Britton Plaza and concluded in front of Old West. After the Convening of the College, new faculty and administrative staff were introduced. The Senior and Junior Sophisters were recognized for outstanding achievement, and the Shuman Prizes were awarded. Greetings were given by the President of Student Senate, and Professor Marcus Key gave a speech entitled "The Top 10 Pieces of Advice for Dickinson Students." President Durden then gave an address entitled "Defying Your Generation's Stereotypes- Dickinson Style." Faculty promotions, new appointments, and honor prizes and scholarships were announced. Dana Scholars were also recognized.
