Opening Convocation for the 2012-2013 Academic Year

This convocation ceremony was held on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 4:00 pm. The Academic Procession began in Britton Plaza and made its way to the lawn in front of Old West. After the presentation of the new students, new faculty members and administrators were introduced. The 2012 Ganoe Award winner was announced, and the Senior and Junior Sophisters and Phi Beta Kappa were recognized for outstanding academic achievement. The Shuman Prizes were also awarded. Following greetings from the president of the Student Senate, President Durden gave an address entitled "From the Uncertain to the Concrete." To conclude the ceremony, al new students walked up the steps of Old West to officially sign into the college. Faculty promotions, new appointments, and honor prizes and scholarships were announced.
