Studio of Brenda Smith Performs

The Studio of Brenda Smith presented a "Survey of French Art Song" at 6:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall. Smith and her students sang J.B. Besard's "Si jamais mon ame blessee"; G. Bataille's "La plus miserable amante"; an anonymously-written song called "Maman, dites-moi"; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Dans les bois solitaire" and "Oiseau si tous les ans"; Hector Berlioz's "Absence" and "Le Jeune Patre Breton"; Georges Bizet's "Vielle Chanson"; Henri Duparc's "L'Invitation du Voyage" and "Extase"; Ernest Chausson's "Le Colibri"; Claude Debussy's "En Sourdine", "Romance", and "Beau Soir"; Reynaldo Hahn's "L'Heure Exquise", "Offrande", and "Si mes vers avaient des ailes"; Maurice Ravel's "La-bas, vers l'eglise" and "Chanson des cueilleuses de Lentisques"; and Francis Poulenc's "Violon". The program also included an extensive selection of songs by Gabriel Faure: "Lydia", "Les Berceaux", "Reve d'Amour", "Aurore", "Mai", "Diane, Selene", "En Priere", "Adieu", "La Rose", "Ici-bas", "Chanson Amour", "Apres un Reve", and "En Sourdine".
