The handwritten note on the reverse side reads: "At Gettysburg Battlefield. CGB [Charles Gilbert Beetem, Class of 1904] is seated center front row. Squire Hemmings stands behind him. "Uncle" John Miller, Esq, in short sleeves stands behind man at right end of row seated. About year 1918 or 1920."
