Collegium Musicum Presents "A Christmas Concert"

The Music Department presented "A Christmas Concert: Renaissance and Baroque Christmas Music, and Traditional Carols" featuring the Collegium Musicum at 3:00pm in Memorial Hall.  The ensemble performed Michael Praetorius' "Psallite unigenito" and "Lo, how a Rose e'er Blooming"; William Byrd's "Justorum animae" and "Pavana Bray"; Francisco Guerrero's "Pasto, quien madre virgen"; the Spanish villancico "Soberana Maria"; Orlando di Lasso's "Resonet in laudibus" (ed. J. Forrest Posey); the 15th century English song "Coventry Carol"; the anonymous English carol "Bonny Sweet Boy"; W. Ballet's "Lute Book Lullaby"; the Cornish traditional carol "Sans Day Carol"; Heinrich Schütz's "Hodie Christus natus est"; Claudio Monteverdi's "Christe redemptor omnium"; Benjamin Britten's "There is no Rose"; William Billings' "A Virgin Unspotted"; Pierre Attaignant's "Prelude"; the French traditional carols "Quelle est cette odeur agréable", "Puisque deux ceuers", "Gaillarde-Pavane", and "Quittez, pasteurs"; the English carol "Gloucestershire Wassail"; the German carol "In Dulci Juilo"; the Dutch melody "King Jesus Hath a Garden"; Elizabeth Poston's "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree"; and the Welsh carol "Deck the Halls".
