Collegium Musicum Presents "A Ceremony of Carols"

The Music Department presented the Collegium Musicum's "Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols" at 8:00pm in Memorial Hall.  In addition to Britten's Ceremony of Carols, op. 28, the ensemble performed the English carols "Angelus ad Virginem", 14th century, and "Coventry Carol" (arr. M. Shaw), 16th century; the French carols "Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella" (arr. A Parker and R. Shaw) and "Quittez, pasteurs" (arr. H. Keyte and A. Parrott); the Basque carol "Sing lullaby" (arr. E. Pettman); the Chant melody "Christum wir sollen loben schon" (arr. Lucas Osiander); Harold Darke's "In the bleak mid-winter"; William Byrd's "O magnum mysterium"; the German folk song "Maria walks amid the thorns" (arr. J. Hoffhacker); Tomás Luis de Victoria's "O quam gloriosum"; the Ukrainian carol "Carol of the Bells" (arr. M. Leontovich); and Gabriel Fauré's "Cantique de Jean Racine".
