The Sublime Sounds of South India

The Cecil Andrew and Adeleine Ewing Fund, along with the Departments of Music, Religion, and English, presented "Sublime Sounds of South India," a concert by flutist Mala (Sikkil Mala Chandrasekhar), accompanied by mrdangam player Madipakkam Suresh and violinist H.N. Bhaskar, at 7:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall. Mala performed Manambuchavadi Venkatusubbaiyar's "Jalajaksha", Tyagaraja's "Tulasi dala mulache" and "Mangalam", Periasami Thuran's "Thaye thripura sundari", Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavatar's "Bhuvaneshvarya", Neela Ramamurthy's "Dheena charanyane", Vyasaraya's "Krishna nee beghane baro", Kalki Krishnamurthy's "Katrinile", and Lalgudi G. Jayaraman's "Tillana".
