Noonday Concert

The Music Department presented a Noonday Concert in tribute to Miss Ruth Trout in the Rubendall Recital Hall.  Students and Faculty performed Johannes Brahms' "Hungarian Dance in g minor, no. 1 for Four Hands", Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Fantasie in c minor, KV 475", Georges Enescu's "Cantabile et Presto", Ludwig van Beethoven's "Piano Concerto no. 3 in c minor, op. 37", and César Franck's "Sonata for Violin and Piano".

James Hontz Performs

The Music Department presented a faculty recital by classical guitarist James Hontz at 8:15pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Hontz performed Manuel M. Ponce's "Sonatina Meridional", Augustín Barrios Mangiore's "La Catedral", Leo Brouwer's "Sonata", Heitor Villa-Lobos' "Five Preludes for Guitar", and Astor Piazzolla's "Milonga del Angel" and "Muerte del Angel".

Senior Recital

The Music Department presented a senior recital by cellist Catherine Best, accompanied by pianist Michal Schmidt and cellist Nancy Baun, at 3:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Best performed Antonio Vivaldi's "Sonata in a minor", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Suite No. 3 in C Major", Johannes Brahms' "Sonata No. 1 in e minor, op. 38", Edouard Lalo's "Concerto in d minor", and Gian Carlo Menotti's "Suite for Two Cellos and Piano".

Giora Schmidt Performs

The Music Department presented a guest recital by violinist Giora Schmidt, accompanied by pianist Michal Schmidt, at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Schmidt performed Giuseppe Tartini's "Devil's Trill Sonata" (arr. Kreisler), Ludwig van Beethoven's "Sonata in c minor, op. 30, no. 2", Fritz Kreisler's "Liebeslied" and "Tambourine Chinois", and Maurice Ravel's "Tzigane".

The Music Department presented a Noonday Concert in the Rubendall Recital Hall.  Students and faculty performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Fantasie D-Moll"; Antonio Vivaldi's "Sonata in a minor for Cello and Piano"; Percy Grainger's "Sprig o' Thyme"; Benjamin Britten's "At the mid hour of night"; Jake Heggie's "Danny Boy"; and "Perfectly Marvelous", "It Couldn't Please Me More", "I Don't Care Much", and "Cabaret" from Cabaret.

Collegium Musicum Christmas Concert 2000

The Music Department presented "The Sounds of War," a concert by the College-Community Orchestra, at 8:00pm in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium.  The orchestra performed Ludwig van Beethoven's "Triple Concerto, Op. 56", Giuseppe Verdi's "Overture to La Battaglia di Legnano", John Corigliano's "Elegy", and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture, Op. 49".

2000 Fall Symphonic Band Concert

The Music Department presented the Symphonic Band's Fall 2000 Concert at 2:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The band performed Ernst Luthold's "March 'Onward'", Frank Erickson's "Toccata for Band", Percy Grainger's "Irish Tune from County Derry", Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Folk Song Suite", Alfred Reed's "A Festival Prelude", Harvey Schmidt's "The Fantasticks" (arr. Alfred Reed), and Edwin Franko Goldman's "On the Mall".

In Memoriam

The Music Department, the Theatre Department, and the Clarke Center presented "In Memoriam."  The program featured excerpts from Jerome Kilty's play Dear Liar, a performance of The Orbit of the Soul by mezzo-soprano Lynn Helding and pianist Jennifer Blyth, and Frederic Rzewski's De Profundis.

A. Siloti), Ludwig van Beethoven's "With Two Eyeglasses Obligato", Vincent Persichetti's "Parable No. 14", Douglas Ovens' "Largo", Manuel de Falla's "Suite Populaire Espagnole", and Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Sonata in G Major, Op. 19, for Cello and Piano".

Trio of New York City Performs

The Music Department presented a performance by the Trio of New York City at 7:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The trio performed Ludwig van Beethoven's "Trio in B-flat Major for Clarinet, Bassoon, and Piano, Op. 2", François Poulenc's "Trio for Clarinet, Bassoon, and Piano", Robert Wellington Pound's "When We Three Meet", Henri Dutilleux's "Sarabande et Cortege for Bassoon and Piano", Joseph Horovitz's "Sonatina for Clarinet and Piano", and Mikhail Flinka's "Trio Pathetique in d minor for Clarinet, Bassoon, and Piano".

Christopher Roberts Concert

The Music Department presented a Christopher Roberts Concert by mezzo-soprano Lynn Helding and pianist Jennifer Blyth at 4:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The duo performed George Frideric Handel's "Presti omai"; Christoph von Gluck's "Ombra mai fu" and "Che faró senza Euridice"; Henry Purcell's "Nymphs and Shepherds", "Music for Awhile", "Ah, Belinda, I am prest", and "When I am Laid in Earth"; Ned Rorem's "Absalom"; William Schuman's "Orpheus with his Lute"; and Elizabeth Vercoe's Irreveries from Sappho.
