"Eastman at Dickinson" Inaugural Concert

The Inaugural Concert of the "Eastman at Dickinson" recital series, in which select students of the Eastman School of Music performed at Dickinson College, was held at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Students performed Oliver Messaien's "Le Merle Noir", Sergei Prokofiev's "Sonata for flute and piano", Howard Bashaw's "Hosu", Witold Lutoslawski's "Grave: Metamorphoses for Cello and Piano", and George Crumb's "Vox Ballaenae".

College Choir and College-Community Orchestra Present "A Concert of French Music"

The Music Department presented a program titled "A Concert of French Music" featuring the Dickinson College Choir and the College-Community Orchestra at 3:00pm in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium.  The ensembles performed Charles Gounod's "Ballet Music", "Salut! demeure chaste e pure", "Jewel Song", and "Il se fait tard - O nuit d'amour"; Georges Bizet's "La fleur que tu m'avais jetée" and "Habañera"; Jules Massenet's "Pourquoi me reveiller", "Il est doux, il est bon", and "Meditation"; and Francis Poulenc's Gloria.

The Music Department presented a faculty recital by cellist Nancy Baun, accompanied by pianist Gloria Whitney and featuring dancer Zalika Proctor, at 8:15pm in the Rubendall Recital Hall.  Baun performed Jean Baptiste Breval's "Allegro Giocoso in G Major"; Vows, choreographed to Jerome Kessler's "Kol Nidrei"; George Rochberg's "Ricordanza"; Dances to the Moon, choreographed to Peter Schickele's "Pastorale"; and César Franck's "Sonata in A Major".

Chamber Orchestra Performs Music by Beethoven, Schumann, and Mahler

The Music Department presented a concert of music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann, and Gustav Mahler featuring the Chamber Orchestra at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The orchestra performed Beethoven's "Leonore Overture No. 3 (op. 72B)", five songs from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn, and Robert Schumann's Concerto for piano and orchestra in A minor (op. 54).

Douglas Yarwood Performs

Eaken Piano Trio Performs with Barry Tuckwell

Class of 1993 Music Majors Present "The History of Rasselas, Prince of Absissinia"
