Performances, Films, and Exhibits

The Music Department presented its second Noonday Concert of the 1991-1992 academic year in the Rubendall Recital Hall.  Students and faculty performed Johann Pezel's "Three Pieces", Cartwright's arrangement of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Postlude", Ernst von Dohnanyi's "Sonata in B-flat, Op. 8", Henry Eccles' "Sonata", Johannes Brahms' "Quartet No. 2, A minor" and "Andante con moto from the Piano Trio in C major, Op. 87", Henri Wieniawski's "Scherzo - Tarantella, Op. 16 for violin and piano", Margaret Garwood's "Clancy Dances", and "Three Romantic Part Songs" by Gerald Finzl.

The Music Department presented a faculty recital by cellist Nancy Baun and the Eaken Piano Trio at 8:00pm in the Rubendall Recital Hall.  Pieces performed included Paul Bazelaire's "Suite Francaise, Op. 114", Edward Lalo's "Concerto in D minor", Percy Grainger's "My Robin Is to the Greenwood Gone", and Johannes Brahms' "Trio in C major, Op. 87".

The Music Department presented a concert of works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Vivaldi performed by the Chamber Orchestra at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The pieces performed included Mozart's "Overture to Idomeneo", Serenate for 13 winds (K. 361), "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (K. 525)", and "Overture to La Clemenza di Tito", as well as Vivaldi's "Concerto for 2 cellos and orchestra in G minor (P. 411)" and "Concerto in D minor".

The Music Department presented its first Noonday Concert of the 1991-1992 academic year at Rubendall Recital Hall.  Students and faculty performed Ernst Bloch's "Two Movements from Suite Modale"; Johannes Brahms' "Sonata in E minor No. 1, Op.

The Dickinson College Summer Chatauqua 1991 presented the Eakins String Quartet in concert at 7:30pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The ensemble performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Quartet in D minor, K. 421", Dmitri Shostakovich's "Quartet No. 1, Op. 49", and Franz Schubert's "Quartet in A minor, Op. 29".

The Music Department presented a recital of singers from the sophomore class, accompanied by pianist Joan Frey Boytim, at 7:15pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.

The Music Department presented its sixth Noonday concert of the 1990-1991 academic year at Rubendall Recital Hall.  Students and faculty performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Fantasia in D minor", David Popper's "Duet for Two Celli", Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's "Song Without Words, Op. 109", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Invention in F major", Gerald Finzi's "Who Is Sylvia?" and "It Was a Lover and His Lass", Johannes Brahms' "Moderato from the Quartet in A minor, Op. 51, No. 2", Frédéric Chopin's "Prelude in D-flat major, Op. 28, No.

The Music Department presented a junior recital by mezzo-soprano Laura Hodos, accompanied by pianist David Glasgow, sopranos Amy Morse and Kim Platz, and baritones Rob Burlington and David Glasgow, at 6:15pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.

The Music Department presented a senior recital by soprano Danielle Capretti, accompanied by pianist Robert Felstein, at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.

The Music Department presented a spring concert by the Symphonic Band at 3:00pm in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium.  The band performed John Philip Sousa's "Fairest of the Fair"; William Byrd's "The Earle of Oxford's March"; R.L.

The Music Department presented a senior recital by mezzo-soprano Gwendolyn Smyth and soprano Megan Flood, accompanied by pianists Brenda Smith Barrett and David Glasgow and flutist Jennifer Meehan, at 2:30pm in the Rubendall Recital Hall.

The Music Department presented a senior recital by flutist Janet Barber, accompanied by pianist Kee Mann Chang, at 3:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Barber performed Samuel Barber's "Canzone", Ulysses Kay's "Prelude", Ernest Bloch's "Suite Modale", Bernard Rogers' "Soliloquy", Arthur Foote's "Night Piece", Kent Kennan's "Night Soliloquy", and Aaron Copland's "Duo".

The Music Department presented a senior recital by soprano Shaune Milligan, accompanied by pianist Kee Mann Chang and flutists Karla Shultz and Sarah Mench, at 7:30pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.

The Music Department presented a concert by the Chamber Orchestra at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The orchestra performed Johann Sebastian Bach's "Concerto for two violins and orchestra, BWV. 1043", Karl Maria von Weber's "Concerto no. 1 in F minor for clarinet and orchestra, Op. 75", Ludwig van Beethoven's "Romance in G major, Op. 40", and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Symphony no. 31 in D major.

The Music Department presented a senior recital by mezzo-soprano Louise Nelson, accompanied by pianist Robert Felstein, at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.

The Music Department presented a flute repertory class at 5:00pm in the Rubendall Recital Hall.  The flutists performed Georg Philipp Telemann's "Vivace from Trio Sonata in G major" and "Spirituoso from Canonic Sonata in D major for two flutes", Alice Gomez's "Peruvian Dance Suite", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Rondo, Polonaise, and Badinerie from Suite in B minor" and "Allegro from Sonata in E-flat major", Stuart K. Hine's "How Great Thou Art", the traditional Irish melody "Be Thou My Vision", William M. Runyan's "Great is Thy Faithfulness", William H.

The Music Department presented a senior recital by flutist Karen Beaver, accompanied by pianist Robert Felstein and flutist Jen Somerwitz, at 3:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Beaver performed Johann Sebastian Bach's "Sonata in G minor, BWV 1020", Robert Aitken's "Icicle", Georg Friedrich Handel's "Sonata in E minor", Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Andante in C major, K. 315", and Frédéric Chopin's "Variations on a Theme by Rossini".

The Music Department presented a performance by the Chamber Choir at Brandywine Valley Baptist Church.

The Music Department presented a senior recital by flutist Heather Stewart, accompanied by pianist Robert Felstein and guitarist Mark Carrano, at 11:00am at Rubendall Recital Hall.  Stewart performed Georg Philipp Telemann's "Suite in A minor"; Fernando Sor's "Prepárame la tumba", "Si dices que mis ojos", and "Las mujeres y cuerdas"; Emile Pessard's "Andalouse" and "Bolero, Op. 28, No. 2"; Gabriel Fauré's "Fantasy, Op. 79"; and Paul Hindemith's "Sonate".

The Music Department presented a senior recital from vocalist Todd Matha, accompanied by pianist Truman Bullard, at 3:00pm in the Rubendall Recital Hall.

The Department of Music presented the Collegium Musicum's performance of "Golden Hits from the Renaissance", featuring the Trombone Ensemble, at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.

The Music Department presented a senior recital by soprano Bethany Arnold, accompanied by pianist Kee Mann Chang and flutist Karla Shultz, at 4:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Arnold performed Georg Friedrich Handel's Nel Dolce Del' Oblio; Franz Schubert's "Die Sterne", "An den Mond", "Nacht und Träume", "Heimliches Lieben", and "Im Frühling"; Jacques Offenbach's "Elle a fui, la tourterelle!"; Reynaldo Hahn's "D'une Prison", "Fumée", and "Infidelité"; and Ernst Bacon's "Twilight", "Gentle Greeting", "Of Love", "Fond Affection", "Stars", "The Lamb", and "The Little Stone".

The Music Department presented a string quartet recital at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The quartet performed "The Death of the Maiden" from Franz Schubert's "Quartet in A minor, Op. 29", Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's "Quartet No. VII, Op. 81", Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Quartet XV in B-flat major, K. 458", George Gershwin's "Prelude", and Mark Walker's "Simple Gifts".

The Music Department presented a faculty recital by Beth Bullard and Marry Hannigan titled "Two Tutors of Flute" at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The recital featured Georg Philipp Telemann's "Canonic Sonata in D major", Paul Hindemith's "Sonatine in Canon Style, Op. 31, No. 3", Hector Berlioz's "Trio of the Young Ishmaelites", Philippe Gaubert's "Divertissement grec", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Trio Sonata in G major, BWV 1039", and Franz Doppler's "Andante and Rondo, Op. 25".

The Music Department presented a spring concert by the College-Community Orchestra and the Dickinson College Choir featuring the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet at 3:00pm in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium.  The ensembles performed Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Russian Easter Overture", Leo Delibes' La Source, and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.
