The Music Department presented a faculty recital by cellist Nancy Baun, accompanied by pianist Gloria Whitney, at 8:15pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Baun performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozard's "Ridente la calma", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Suite in C Major for Solo Cello", Camille Saint-Saëns' "Le Cygne", and Victor Herbert's "Concerto in E Minor, Opus 30 No. 2".

Violin Recital

The Music Department presented a recital from violinist Carl Iba, accompanied by pianist Gloria Whitney, at 8:15pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Iba performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Concerto No. 5 in A Major, K. 219", Karol Szymanowski's "Chant de Roxanne", Fritz Kreisler's "Liebeslief" and "Schön Rosmarin", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Sonata No. 1 in G minor", Manuel Ponce's "Estrellita", and Edouard Lalo's "Symphonie Espagnole".

Eaken Piano Trio Performs

The Music Department presented the Eaken Piano Trio at 8:15pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The trio performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Trio in B-flat Major", Johann Pachelbel's "Canon in D Major", Percy Aldridge Grainger's "My Robin is to the Greenwood Gone", Fritz Kreisler's "The Old Refrain", Maurice Ravel's "Trio", Peter Martin's "Rumba" and "Pasa Doble", Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise", and Johannes Brahms' "Hungarian Dance No. 5".

Noonday Concert

The Music Department presented its sixth Noonday Concert of the 1989-1990 academic year in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Students and faculty performed Franz Strauss' "Empfindungen am Meere, Op. 12", Jean-Baptiste Loeillet's "Trio Sonata in C minor", Franz Schubert's "Ständchen" and "Du Bist die Ruh", Edouard Lalo's "Allegro from the Concerto in D minor", and Giovanni Viviani's "Sonata Prima per Trombetta Sola".

United States Air Force String Orchestra Concert

The Music Department presented the United States Air Force String Orchestra in concert at 8:15pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The orchestra performed Edward Elgar's "Serenade in E minor" and "Introduction and Allegro for String Quartet and String Orchestra", Bryan Zoelch's "Fantasy on a Theme by Prokofiev", Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Concerto for Oboe and Strings", and a commissioned work by a member of the Lithuanian Composers Union.

Chamber Choir Performs

The Chamber Choir performed at the Church of the Apostles in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  The program included Virgil Thomson's arrangement of "My Shepherd Will Supply My Need", the American folk hymn "Wondrous Love", Randall Thompson's "Best of Rooms", Melchior Franck's "In den Armen dein", Heinrich Schütz's "So fahr ich hin zu Jesu Christ", Frances Routh's "At the Round Earth's Imagin'd Corners", Henry Purcell's "Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary II", Ivor Davies' "Prayers from the Ark", Orlando Gibbons' "O Clap Your Hands", and Truman Bullard's "All Things Bright and Beautiful".

Buzz Jones Big Band Performs "Jazz in the 20th Century"
