Dr. A. Lee Fritschler, who was appointed president of Dickinson College in April of 1987 and began his duties on July 1st, became the official twenty-sixth president of the College on October 17th, 1987. The ceremony took place on Homecoming Weekend. The inauguration began on the Academic Quad on the John Dickinson campus in front of Old West at 10:30 am and was followed by a speech made by Paul Sarbanes, the United States Senator from Maryland, as well as a speech made by newly appointed President Fritschler. A buffet luncheon concluded the ceremony in the Holland Union Building.
