1987 Spring Jazz Concert

The Department of Music presented the Jazz Ensemble in a concert with the Millersville University Jazz Ensemble at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall. The Millersville ensemble played Bricusse and Newley's "What Kind of Fool Am I?", Duke Ellington's "Do Nuthin' Till You Hear From Me", Benny Golson's "Killer Joe", Jerome Richardson's "Groove Merchant", Victor Schertzinger's "Tangerine", Don Ellis' "The Last Triangle of Lord Boogie", Chick Corea's "Spain", Louis Prima's "Sing, Sing, Sing", and Ken McCoy's "Pequenos Reyes".

Choir and Orchestra Perform in Baltimore

The College Choir and College-Community Orchestra gave a concert with the Eaken Piano Trio at Old St. Paul's Church in Baltimore, Maryland. They performed Gabriel Faure's Pavane and  Requiem; Alan Hovhaness' Haroutium; Johann Sebastian Bach's "Erbarme dich"; Felix Mendelssohn's "Trio No. 1 in D Minor"; Johannes Brahms' "Trio No. 1 in B Major"; Marc Antonio Ingegneri's "Jerusalem surge", "In Monte Oliveti", and "Tristis est Anima Mea"; and Franz Schubert's Stabat Mater.  

Noonday Concert

The Department of Music presented the sixth Noonday Concert of the 1986-1987 academic  year in Rubendall Recital Hall. Students and faculty performed Ludwig van Beethoven's "Spring", Carl Philip Emanuel Bach's "Sonata in A Major", George Frideric Handel's "Sonata in A Minor for flute and harpsichord", Francis Poulenc's "Sarabande for Guitar", Leo Brouwer's "Elogio de la Danza", Johann Christian Bach's "Sonata in C Major", Felix Mendelssohn's "Equali No. 2", and Paul Koepke's "Jamboree". 

Carlisle Brass Performs

They played Hector Berlioz's "Triumphal March"; Fisher Tull's "Exhibition"; Tomaso Albinoui's "Saint Mark"; Arthur Frackenpohl's "Pop Suite"; Gustav Holst's "Second Suite in F"; John Cheetham's "Scherzo"; John Beckwith's "The Lovesick Frog", "Wright's Quickstep", "All Her Ways are Pleasant", "Allegro and Volunteer March", "Coburg Waltz", "How Sweet are the Flowers" and "Rule Britannia"; and Irving Rosenthal's "Little Brown Jug".

They played Charlie Parker's "Chi Chi", Cole Porter's "Night and Day", Carole King's "Corazon", Hoagy Carmichael's "Georgia on My Mind", Matt Harris' "Taylor Made", Victor Schertzinger's "I Remember You", Sammy Nestico's "Pressure Cooker", George Gershwin's "Summertime", Chick Cichetti's "Fast Eddie" and "Lollipops and Roses", Bob Florence's "Carmelo's by the Freeway", and Duke Ellington's "It Don't Mean a Thing". 

1987 Winter Orchestra Concert

They played Ludwig van Beethoven's The Creatures of Prometheus, Franz Danzi's Concertante, George Frederick Handel's "Cara sposa" and "Dopo notte", Antonio Vivaldi's "Concerto in A Major for guitar and orchestra", and Franz Joseph Haydn's "London".

The program included William Byrd's "The Carman's Whistle", John Dowland's "Pavana Lachrymae", Richard Farnaby's "Nobodyes Gigge", Johann Joachim Quantz's "Trio Sonata in A Minor", Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "An Chloe", Richard Strauss' "Die Nacht", Felix Mendelssohn's "Abendlied", Ernest Bloch's Suite Modale, and Carl Reinecke's "Trio in D-flat Major".

Students and faculty performed Wendy Barker's "Rondo in G Major"; Fernando Sor's "Andante II"; Mauro Giuliani's "Allegro"; Johann Sebastian Bach's "Concerto in E Major"; Eric Park's "Rondo in D Major"; Ernest Block's Suite Modale; Sharon Schultheiss' "Rondo in G Major"; Henry Purcell's "Sound the Trumpet"; Alfred Reed's "Children's Carol", "Village Song", "Antiphonal Chant", and "Cathedral Chorus"; and Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride". 

1986 Symphonic Band Christmas Concert

Faculty Guitar and Harpsichord Recital

Students and faculty performed Alphonse Barthe's "Passacaille", Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Song without Words", Franz Danzi's "Qunitet in B-flat Major", Ralph Vaughan-Williams' "Linden Lea" and "The Vagabond", David Van Vactor's "Duettino for Two Flutes", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Prelude and Fugue in C-Sharp Minor", Frederic Chopin's "Etude No. 10 in A-flat Major", Claude Debussy's "Etude pour les quartes", and Franz Liszt's "Etude Caprice in A Minor".
