The Department of Music presented the Jazz Ensemble and the Chamber Choir in their third annual joint concert at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall. They performed J. Beckenstein's "Cockatoo", Sammy Nestico's "Fun Time", J. Oddo's "John Brown's Other Body", Diamond/Bacharach/Sager's "Heartlight", Donald Fagen's "I.G.Y. (What a Beautiful World)", Les Brown's "Sentimental Journey", Chick Corea's "Spain", Lew Spence's "Nice 'n' Easy", Ray Noble's "I Hadn't Anyone Til You", Rube Bloom's "Give me the Simple Life", and Anita Kerr's "Goodbye Mr. Blues". 

Noonday Concert

The Department of Music presented the third Noonday Concert of the 1983-1984 academic year in Rubendall Recital Hall. Students and faculty performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Divertimento in B-flat Major", "Serenade for Wind Trio in B-flat Major", "Il core vi dono", and "Concerto in A Major for Clarinet and Orchestra"; Georg Philipp Telemann's "Quartet in D Minor for three flutes and keyboard"; Heinrich Schutz's "Verbum caro factum est"; and Henri Vieuxtemps' "Souvenir d'Amerique".

1983 Parents' Day Concert

The Department of Music presented the 1983 Parents' Day Concert at 10:30am in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. The Wind Ensemble, Collegium Musicum, College Choir, and College-Community Orchestra performed for the event. The program included Ralph Vaughn-Williams' "Seventeen Come Sunday", "My Bonny Boy", and "Folk Songs from Somerset"; Johann Sebastian Bach's "Lobet den Herren alle Heiden"; Bela Bartok's "Wedding Song", "Song of the Hayharvesters", "Dancing Song" from Madzibrod, and "Dancing Song" from Poniky; and Ludwig van Beethoven's Choral Fantasy

Cumberland Big Band Performs

They played Toshiko Akiyoshi's "Tuning Up", Bricusse and Newley's "What Kind of Fool am I?", Horace Silver's "Nutville", Frank Rosolino's "Blue Daniel", Keith Jarrett's "The Raven Speaks", John Williams' "Han Solo and the Princess", J. Edmonson's "Bandstand Boogie", Bob Mintzer's "Slo-Funk", Cory and Cross' "I Left my Heart in San Francisco", Stevie Wonder's "Another Star", Maurice Ravel's "To a Sleeping Beauty", and Kahn and Fiorito's "I Never Knew". 

1983 Chamber Orchestra Fall Concert

They played Tommaso Vitali's "Chaconne in G Minor", Georg Philipp Telemann's "Suite in A Minor", Antonin Dvorak's "String Quartet in F Major", Charles Ives' The Unanswered Question, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Voi che sapete" and "Deh per questo istante solo".

Noonday Concert

Members of the music faculty performed Warren Baker's "Fanfare, Gigue and March"; Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Sonata in G Minor"; Johann Sebastian Bach's "Suite for Lute"; Johannes Brahms' "Wie Melodien zieht es mir", "O Wusst'ich doch", "Vorschneller Schwar", and "Trio"; and Ned Rorem's "Early in the Morning" and "O You Whom I Often and Silently Come".

Schubert's "Andante", G.P. Telemann's "Sonata in B-flat Major" and "Duet in D Minor", G.F. Handel's "Sonata in A Minor", A.B. Furstenau's "Duet in B-flat Major", G. Faure's "Sicilienne", M. Ravel's "Pavane pour une infante defunte", and W.A. Mozart's "Concerto in G Major". 

Amnesty-International Adoption Group 132 Presents "Cantabile"

Amnesty-International Adoption Group 132 presented Cantabile at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall. Violinist Hwa-sun Loh, violoncellist June Shomaker, clarinetist Ella Forsyth, and pianist Kayo Tatebe played D. Milhaud's "Suite", F. Schubert's "Sonatina No. 2", J. Brahms' "Sonata No. 2 in E-flat Major", S. Prokofieff's "Sonata", and L. van Beethoven's "Trio in B-flat Major".

Students and faculty performed Giovanni Giuseppe Cambini's "Presto ma non tanto", Ludwig van Beethoven's "Sonata in C Minor", George Frederic Handel's "Sonata in A Major", Henri Eccles' "Sonata", Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Sonata in A Major", Charles Gounod's "Avant de quitter ces lieux" from Faust, Dennis Slavin's "A Liz et Beth", and Franz Schubert's "Allegro ma non troppo". 

Senior Guitar Recital

She played Sylvius Leopold Weiss' "Suite", John Dowland's "Fantasie", Mauro Giuliani's "Les Folies d'Espagne", Manuel Ponce's "Twelve Preludes", Eduardo Sainz de la Maza's "Campanas del Alba", and Heitor Villa-Lobos' "Prelude No. 5 in D Major" and "Prelude No. 2 in E Major".

Kuebler played Johann Sebastian Bach's "Prelude and Fugue in D Major", Ludwig van Beethoven's "Sonata No. 8 in C Minor", Aram Khachaturian's "Toccata", Robert Schumann's "Kinderszenen", and Frederic Chopin's "Ballade No. 2 in F Major".
