Carlisle Hospital

In reaction to the recently removed crosswalk between Morgan Field and the Boyd Lee Spahr Library, students create an unofficial, spray-painted replacement. The cafeteria increases security by requiring the presentation of ID cards and sealing off side doors in order to increase efficiency. A senior student is in stable condition at the Carlisle Hospital after being struck by a car while biking and sustaining severe injuries. Carlisle Police seize 37 marijuana plants during a raid on the off-campus apartment of three students.

College purchases microphone for speech clinic. A Music Room/Speech Clinic is created in Old West. Eleven Dickinson students volunteer as Nurses' Aides at Carlisle Hospital. George Yuda, sophomore, is hospitalized due to chemical burns sustained in a Dickinson lab. Tome basement is cleared and partitioned into four laboratories and classrooms.

Associate Dean of Students, Norm Jones, will be moving up the administration ladder to become assistant to the president. This position includes duties previously belonging to the executive vice president and regarding community development. The Carlisle Regional Medical Center moves one and a half miles further from campus and although this puts it out of walking distance for Dickinson students, they appreciate the better facilities that will be featured in the new building.

This is a special issue of the Dickinsonian, published in response to Dr. Martin Luther King's assassination. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4th, and four articles were written about the assassination in this article. One profiles student reaction, one profiles faculty reaction, one shows town leader reactions, and one discusses Rev. Joseph Washington's views on the future of the Civil Rights Movement. Students and faculty participated in memorial services for King.
