Sigma Chi Fraternity holds their 11th biennial conference in Philadelphia.  The Union Philosophical Society library reaches 10,000 volumes.

The first issue of The Dickinsonian after a major format change. Quick clips of news about other schools abound. An editorial on fraternities and a story on preparatory schools also appears.

President McCauley's baccalaureate speech. A junior oratorical contest is held. Class day. Commencement. Alumni meeting is held. Classes of '66 and '71 hold reunions.

Rev. Robert Davidson, '28, Carlisle pastor, son of Dickinson's second president, dies. Emory Methodist Evangelical Church reopens, to the students' delight. The lecture room and laboratory of South College are renovated. J. W. Hendrix donates a Holtz's Electrical Machine to renovated science rooms in South College. Dickinson College Alumni Association of Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia meets.  Commencement announcements are made.  

James Beaumont Spenser, student, dies. A Central Pennsylvania Alumni Association is formed. The science lecture room is outfitted with cases and new apparati. Phi Kappa Psi holds 17th annual symposium in Carlisle.  James Strong, D.D., Professor of Exegetics at Drew Theological Seminar, pays the school a visit.

An alumni reunion is held in Philadelphia. Union Philosophical Society celebrates its 87th anniversary. Charles F. Robbins, student, dies of typhoid fever, to which an article is written in memoriam.  The Belles Lettres Society and the Sigma Chi Fraternity also present their condolences. The Belles Lettres Society celebrates its 90th anniversary.  An instance of a duel that almost took place in the 1850s is recounted by an alumni.

Belles Lettres challenges Union Philosophical Society to a public debate. Alumni plan a Grand Centennial Reunion in Philadelphia.

Alumni hold a reunion in Baltimore. The Class Day officers are elected; G. E. Morgan is president. Class of 1871 plans a 15-year reunion.  The Alumni Association holds a meeting in Philadelphia.
