The annual school catalogue is released, with numerous printer mistakes.  The Union Philosophical Society alters its constitution.  The Phi Psi's hold their annual reception.  Construction continues for the gymnasium.  The Belles Lettres Society plans its annual Sophomore Contest.  The Freshman play a chosen baseball team from the entire college population and lose to them, 28 to 16.  The Microcosm is not to be printed this year.

Students are critical of the revival meetings occurring amongst the townsfolk of Carlisle.  The Belles Lettres Society holds its 98th anniversary.  Four freshman form the Beta Sigma Chi Society for the purpose of studying literary culture.  The Belles Lettres and Union Philosophical Societies decide to both hold sophomore contests.  The Dickinson College Athletic Association is formed.

Students are criticized for studying on the Sabbath.  Relations between students and professors are notably peaceful.  Rumors spread that South College is to be dedicated entirely to the Preparatory school.  The only known existing portrait of President Durbin, the first President of the College, is donated to Dickinson until a duplicate portrait or bust can be donated by the owner, President Durbin's daughter Fletcher Harper.  The annual Day for College Prayer is observed on January 30 with a sermon from Rev. W. S.

The good health of Dickinsonians is praised, while the religious habits of students are criticized.  Some students are criticized for their drinking habits.  Rumors arise over a possible strike of students for a reduction in boarding house rates.  The Union Philosophical Society cancels its anniversary celebration after one of the planned speakers leaves the college.  The organ used by the college is taken away by the owner, leaving the college organist with a poor quality melodeon to play during chapel.  The college orchestra is in excellent condition but lacks money for their efforts.  Th

Dr. Lippincott leaves Dickinson to become Chancellor of Kansas State University, and two new professors, Professor Durell and Dr. Rittenhouse, join the college's staff.  The sophomore baseball team beats the junior team.  An inter-society debate between the Union Philosophical Society and the Belles Lettres Society is planned.The Board of Trustees votes to construct a new Scientific Building between East and West College.
