Senior Recital

The Music Department presented a senior recital by flutist Christa Sheehan, accompanied by pianist Kee Mann Chang, at Rubendall Recital Hall at 8:00pm.  Sheehan performed Philippe Gaubert's "Troisième Sonate", Robert Dick's "Flying Lessons I", François Doppler's "Fantaisie Pastorale Hongroise", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Sonata in E Minor, BWV 1034", and Francis Poulenc's "Sonata".

A Concert of South Indian Music

The Music Department presented a concert of South Indian Music by Vijaya Prabhakar on the veena, featuring Shashidhar on the violin and Prakash Rao on the mrindangam, at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The concert featured Pattanam and Subramanya Iyer's "Evaribodha", Dikshitar's "Gananayakam", Tyagaraja's "Brovabarama" and "Ninnuvina", Muthaiya and Bhagavatar's "Jalandhara", Subbaraya and Shastri's "Janani", Sheshanna's "Tillana", "Meerabhajan", and "Bajan Ragupati Ragava".

Carl Iba and Nozomi Takashima Perform

The Music Department presented a duo recital by violinist Carl Iba and pianist Nozomi Takashima at 8:15pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The pair performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Sonata for Piano and Violin in G major, K. 301", Johannes Brahms' "Sonatensatz", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Fugue from Sonata No. 1 in G minor", Béla Bartók's "Romanian Folk Dances", and Henryk Wieniawski's "Concerto No. 2 in D minor".

Junior Recital

The Music Department presented a junior recital by cellist Richard Konkel, accompanied by pianist David Glasgow, at 7:30pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Konkel performed Antonio Vivaldi's "Sonata in E minor, No. 5", Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's "Sonata in D major, Op. 58", Alexandre Glazunov's "Chant du Ménestrel, Op. 71", Franz Joseph Haydn's "Concerto in C major, No. 1", and Camille Saint-Saëns' "Le Cygne".

Eaken Piano Trio Performs

Chamber Orchestra Performs with Renaissance City Winds

The Music Department presented a concert by the Chamber Orchestra featuring the Renaissance City Winds at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The ensembles played Antonio Vivaldi's "Concerto in G minor for fluteand orchestra, Op.10, No. 2", "Concerto in A minor for bassoon and orchestra, Op. 45, No. 1", and "Concerto in F major for flute, oboe, bassoon, and orchestra, Op. 44, No. 16"; Truman Bullard's House Music; and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, and orchestra, K. 2976.

Winter Brass Project Performs

The Music Department presented a concert by the Winter Brass Project, conducted by Dr. Frederick Petty, at 8:00pm in the Weiss Center for the Arts.  The ensemble performed Henry Purcell's Symphony from The Fairy Queen, Act II; Giovanni Gabrieli's "Canzon in Double Echo"; David Uber's "Antiphonale for Double Brass Choir"; and Elgar Howarth's arrangement of Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.

Christmas Music Concert

1990 Symphonic Band Holiday Concert

Lynn Helding Performs

The Music Department presented a faculty recital by mezzo-soprano Lynn Helding, accompanied by pianist Gloria Whitney, at 4:00pm in the Rubendall Recital Hall.  Helding performed Dominick Argento's The Diary of Virginia Woolf; John Musto's "Recuerdo", "The Silver Swan", "Could Be", and "maggie and milly and molly and may"; and Libby Larsen's "Bucking Bronco", "Lift Me Into Heaven Slowly", and "Billy the Kid".

Deardorff, accopmanied by Joan Boytim on the piano and horn, soprano Joy Stretton, and bassoonist Truman Bullard, at 3:00pm in the Rubendall Recital Hall.  Deardorff performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Concerto No. 3 in E-flat major, K. 447", Franz Strauss' "Nocturno, Op. 7", Franz Peter Schubert's "Auf dern Strom, Op. 119, D. 943", Henri Martelli's "Waltz", Jean Francaix's "Canon in Octave", and Anton Reicha's "Suite I from Twelve Trios, op. 93".

College Choir and College-Community Orchestra Perform with Bryn Mawr-Haverford Chorus

The Music Department presented a concert by the Dickinson College Choir, the College-Community Orchestra, and the Bryn Mawr-Haverford Chorus at 3:00pm in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium.  They performed Antonin Dvorak's Symphony in E minor, Alfred Swan's "Song of Glorification and Thanksgiving", and Ludwig van Beethoven's "Hallelujah Chorus" and "Fantasy in C major, Opus 80".
