Dickinson Baroque Ensemble Performs

The Dickinson Baroque Ensemble performed in the Rubendall Recital Hall.  The ensemble performed Jean-Baptiste Loeillet's "Sonata in D minor for flute, violin, and continuo, Op. 2, No. 4"; George Frideric Handel's "Allegro from the Violin Sonata in D major, Op. 1, No. 15"; Georg Philipp Telemann's "Trio Sonata in A minor for two flutes and basso continuo"; Johann Joachim Quantz's "Sonata in D major for flute and basso continuo"; and Johann Sebastian Bach's "Trio Sonata in G major for flute, violin, and basso continuo, BWV 1038".

College Choir and College-Community Orchestra Perform Ludwig van Beethoven's Mass in C Major

The Dickinson College Choir and the College-Community Orchestra presented a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's Mass in C Major at 3:00pm in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium.  The ensembles also performed Engelbert Humperdinck's "Prayer and Dream Sequence" from Hänsel and Gretel and Alan Hovhaness' Symphony No. 2, Mysterious Mountain.

College Choir and Jazz Ensemble Present "Swingtime!"

The College Choir and the Jazz Ensemble presented a concert titled "Swingtime!" at 8:00pm in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium.  The College Choir performed Truman Bullard's "Six Russian Folk Songs", Cole Porter and Gary Fry's "Do I Love You?" and "From This Moment On", and Ralph Hunter's arrangement of Oscar Hammerstein II and Jerome Kern's "All the Things You Are".

Noonday Concert

The Music Department presented a Noonday Concert at the Weiss Center for the Arts.  Students and faculty performed Robert King's transcription of Ludwig van Beethoven's "Alegretto" from Symphony No. 7, Jean-Baptiste Loeillet's "Sonata No. III", Robert Schumann's "Fantasy Piece, Op. 73, No. 1", Randall Thompson's "The Last Words of David", Virgil Thomson's arrangement of "My Shepherd will supply my need", Samuel Barber's "Sure on this Shining Night", Camille Saint-Saëns' "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, Op.

Parents Day Concert

The Music Department presented a Parents Day concert featuring the College-Community Orchestra, the Dickinson College Choir, the Dickinson Singers, and the Dickinson Jazz Ensemble at 11:00am in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium.  The ensembles performed Sammy Nestico's arrangement of Arthur Herzog, Jr.

Eaken Piano Trio Presents Homecoming Weekend Concert

The Music Department presented a Homecoming Weekend concert featuring the Eaken Piano Trio at 8:00pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  The trio performed Franz Joseph Haydn's "Trio in E major, Hob. XV: 28", Franz Schubert's "Nocturne, Op. 148", Timothy Greatbatch's "Chrystallum II", and Rebecca Clarke's "Trio for Violin, Cello, and Piano".

Mary Hannigan Performs

The Music Department presented a faculty recital by flutist Mary Hannigan, accompanied by pianist Barry Hannigan, at 8:15pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Hannigan performed Harold Genzmer's "Sonate No. 2 in E minor", Kazuo Fukushima's "Mei", Philippe Gaubert's "Sonatine (Quasi fantasia)", Camille Saint-Saëns' "Romance, Op. 37", Jackson Hill's "Rhapsody", and Paul Agricole Genin's "Carnival of Venice".

Noonday Concert

The Music Department presented a Noonday Concert in the Weiss Center for the Arts.  Faculty performed George Frideric Handel's "Passacaglia for Violin and Cello"; Francesco Tarrega's "Danza Mora", "Pavana", "Adelita", and "Sueño"; Samuel Barber's "Opus 13"; "Les Tricotets", "Les Triolets", "Menuet", and "2e Menuet" from Jean-Philippe Rameau's Les Pièces de clavecin; and Anton Dvorak's "Trio in F minor, Op. 65".

Eaken Piano Trio Performs

The Eaken Piano Trio performed as part of the Dickinson College Summer Chautauqua 1992 at the Rubendall Recital Hall at 7:30pm.  The trio performed Franz Joseph Haydn's "Trio in E major, Hob. XV: 28", George Frideric Handel's "Passcaglia for Violin and Cello", Sy Brandon's "Meditation and Dance", Heitor Villa-Lobos' "Berceuse - Barcarolla", and Anton Dvorak's "Trio in A-flat major, Op. 65".

Christine Diwyk Performs

The Music Department hosted a concert by pianist Christine Diwyk at 7:30pm in Rubendall Recital Hall.  Diwyk performed Franz Schubert's "Impromptus, Op. 142"; Ludwig van Beethoven's "Sonata No. 32, Op. 11"; Domenico Scarlatti's "Sonata in D major, Longo 14", "Sonata in F minor, Longo 118", and "Sonata in D major, Longo 465"; Charles Tomlinson Griffes' "Sonata (1918-1919)"; and Frédéric Chopin's "Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise, Op. 22".

Chamber Orchestra Performs

The Music Department presented a Chamber Orchestra concert to benefit the Carlisle Theatre Project at 8:00pm in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium.  The orchestra performed Johannes Brahms' "Concerto in D major for violin and orchestra, Op. 77", Georg Philipp Telemann's "Concerto in D major for horn and orchestra", Gioacchino Rossini's overture to Semiramide, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Concerto no. 3 in E-flat major for horn and orchestra".

Brass Ensemble Presents "Brass Sampler"

Chamber Orchestra Performs

The Music Department presented a concert by the Chamber Orchestra at 8:00pm in the Weiss Center for the Arts.  The orchestra performed Gioacchino Rossini's overture to L'Italiana in Algeri, Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D major (BWV 1050), Michael Goldstein's "Character Sketch for Horns, Strings, and Timpani", and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's Concerto for violin and orchestra in E minor (Op. 64).

Chamber Choir Performs at Allison United Methodist Church

The Chamber Choir performed with the Allison United Methodist Church Choir at the Allison United Methodist Church's bicentennial celebration at 7:30pm.  The Chamber Choir performed Heinrich Schütz's "Psalm 100", Gerald Finzi's "Three Romantic Part Songs to Poems of Robert Bridges", Truman Bullard's "How Can I Keep from Singing", Randall Thompson's "Alleluia", and John Rutter's "As the Bridegroom to His Chosen" and "Gloria".

Senior Recital

The Music Department presented a senior recital by cellist Richard Konkel, accompanied by pianist Kee Mann Chang, at 8:00pm in the Rubendall Recital Hall.  Konkel performed Johann Sebastian Bach's "Suite No. 1 in G major for cello", Ludwig van Beethoven's "Sonata in A major, Op. 69", Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Concerto No. 4 in D major, K. 218 for violin" and "Quartet in C major, K. 157", Max Bruch's "Kol Nidre, Op. 47", Georg Goltermann's "Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 65", and Franz Joseph Haydn's "Quartet No. 29 in F major, Op. 74, No. 2".

Kee Mann Chang and Melissa Hyunjoo Chang Perform

The Music Department presented a joint recital by pianist Kee Mann Chang and cellist Melissa Hyunjoo Chang at 8:15pm in the Rubendall Recital Hall.  Chang and Chang performed Johann Sebastian Bach's "Suite No. 1 in G major for cello", Ludwig van Beethoven's "Sonata No. 3 in A major, Op. 69 for cello and piano", Frédéric Chopin's "Preludes for piano", and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Rococo Variations: Op. 33 for cello".

College Choir Performs with Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra

The Dickinson College Choir performed as part of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra's "A Night Out" at 8:00pm on April 14 and 15.  The choir performed Carl Maria von Weber's overture to the opera Oberon, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Symphony No. 25 in G-minor, K. 183, Maurice Ravel's "Rapsodie Espagnole", and Serge Prokofiev's "Alexander Nevsky, Op. 78".

Symphonic Band Performs with Carlisle Town Band

Laurendeau's arrangement of Strauss' "Blue Danube", King Stacy's "Rampage of the Old Grey Mare", Peter J. Wilhousky's "Battle Hymn of the Republic", and M.C.
