Dickinsonian, April 18, 1958

Members of the fiftieth class of the Skull and Key Society were tapped. John Scott, contributing editor of TIME magazine, will speak at the Allison Methodist Church-Chapel. The College Social Committee is to present the end of the year formal, themed "April in Paris" and featuring musician Buddy Williams. The Student Center Committee have distributed a questionnaire to aid with the planning of the Center, proposed to begin construction by 1960.

Senate allocates this year's budget surplus. Senate grants $30K to Depot Planning Board. College awarded $7.5 million from Alice Rosene and John Beyard Sharp, as well as oil and gas rights on the estate - the largest single donation in the college's history. College focuses on 'global awareness'. Senate committee reviews curriculum, hoping to integrate writing and computer skills throughout all majors. Profile of women in Umoja House.

Faculty adopt an anti-drug policy and revise the calendar to make a five day week. Faculty members were accused by students and library staff of abusing library lending policies. The Pan Hellenic Council will sponsor Skits and a "Fabulous Fifties" formal. Dr. Marshall Nirenberg is set to receive the Priestley Award on March 14th. A survey was conducted to gauge student opinion on marijuana and other drugs, which showed opposition to anti-marijuana laws.
