Collegium Musicum Presents "Toccata Otava "

Collegium Musicum presented Toccata Otava, an evening of music and poetry, at 8:00pm in the Social Hall. Their program began with Orlando di Lasso's "Audite Nova!", "Im Lant zu Wirtenberg", and "Baur, Was Tregst im Sacke?". Then they presented lyric poems: "Chiare fresch' e dolci acque" and "Da bei rami scendea" by Jacques Arcadelt, "Io piango" by Luca Marenzio, and "Ohime il bel viso" by Claudio Monteverdi.

1966 Brass Ensemble and College-Community Orchestra Spring Concert

The College Brass Ensemble and the College-Community Orchestra gave a concert together in College Theater in the HUB at 8:00pm. The Brass Ensemble performed the first half of the program, playing Gordon Jacobs' "Interludes for Trumpets and Trombones", Edmund Haines' "Toccata", Frank Smith's "In dir ist Freunde" and "Was Gott thut, das ist wohlgethan", Adriano Banchieri's "Fantasia in Canon" and "Fantasia in Echo", Johann Pezel's "Sonate No. 27", Houston Bright's "Legend and Canon", Burrill Phillips' "Prelude", Jean Berger's "Intrada", and Robert Sanders' "Suite: Sonatina and March".

1966 Spring Choir Concert

The College Choir, under the direction of Truman Bullard, gave their spring concert in the Little Theater at 3:00pm. The group performed a program of nine pieces: Walter Piston's "Psalm and Prayer of David", Franz Peter Schubert's "Mass in G Major", three nocturnes by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johannes Brahams' "Nanie", and three Hungarian folk songs by Bela Bartok.  

Chapel Choir Presents "The Passion of Our Lord and Savior"

The Chapel Choir sang "The Passion of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ According in the Gospel of Saint John", accompanied by music composed by Heinrich Schutz. Conducted by Truman Bullard, the group gave two performances of the program, one at 10:00am and another at 7:00pm, in the Little Theater in the HUB. 

Mermaid Players' Production of "Sweeney Todd" Opens

Sweeney Todd, a play adapted by Brian Burton from George Dibdin Pitt's A String of Pearls, opened at 8:00pm in Mermaid Players' Theatre in the HUB. In this production, the title role of Sweeney Todd was played by Stuart Pankin. Presented by the Mermaid Players, the show ran from February 24-28. 

1965 Collegium Musicum Winter Concert

Collegium Musicum, directed by J. Forrest Posey, gave their winter concert at 8:00pm in Little Theatre in the HUB. The first grouping of songs from their program included Orlando di Lasso's "Matona, mia cara", Carlo Gesualdo's "Moro Lasso", "E la don don, Verges Maria", Claudin de Sermisy's "Au joly bois" and "Ung jour Robin", and Henry Purcell's "In These Delightful, Pleasant Groves". The second group featured "My Mere L'Oye (Mother Goose Suite)" by Maurice Ravel, "Bailero" as arranged by Canteloube, and "Entr'acte" by Jacques Ibert.

1965 Christmas Choral Concert

The College Choir and Chapel Choir, accompanied by Stephen Marini, gave their annual Christmas concert at the Little Theatre in the HUB. Their program included Henry Purcell's "Rejoice in the Lord Always", Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Ave Verum Corpus", Johann Sebastian Bach's Jesu Meine Freude, and Ralph Vaughan Williams' "O Clap Your Hands". 

1965 Collegium Musicum Spring Concert

The Collegium Musicum, directed by J. Forrest Posey, gave their spring concert at 8:00pm in the College Theatre in the HUB. They performed Monteverdi's "Ecco Mormorar L'Onde" and "Lasciatemi Morire", selections from Hindemith's Six Chansons, Weelkes' "Welcome Sweet Pleasure", Henry VIII's "Green Grow'th the Holly", selections from Bach's Jesu Meine Freude, and Brahams' "Create in Me, O God" and "Grant Unto Me the Joy of thy Salvation".

1964 Christmas Concert

The Concert Chorale and the College Choir performed at 3:00pm in the College Theatre in the Holland Union Building for the annual Music Department Christmas Concert. The program indluced Healey Willan's "Hodie Christus Natus Est", Marc Antoine Charpentier's "Song of the Birth of our Lord", F. A. "A Joyful Christmas Song", and Franz Joseph Hadyn's "Miss Solemnelle".

1964 Spring Glee Club Concert

The Men's Glee Club performed a program of fourteen songs in Bosler Hall at 8:00pm for their annual spring concert. They sang "Good News", "Ave Maria",  "No Man is an Island", "Song of the Vagabonds", "Halls of Ivy", "Dickinson College Medley", "Black is the Color of my True Love's Hair", "How to Handle a Woman", "Hallelujah", "It's You I Had a Dream", "If I Loved You", "September Song", and "Mosquitoes".

Music Department's Production of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" Opens

Amahl and the Night Visitors, a one-act opera by Gian Carlo Menotti, opened in Bosler Hall. Presented by the Department of Music, the Opera Workshop and the Concert Chorale performed the production. The show was performed twice: once at 3:00pm and again at 8:00pm.
