Mid-Winter Sports

Dickinson defeats Swarthmore in the Fourth Intercollegiate Oratorical Contest.  The Junior physics class went to study the organ in Allison M. E. Church.  Rev. Samuel Parkes Cadman gives an excellent lecture.  The combined musical clubs give a concert at Shippensburg.  Dr. W. V. Kelley's lecture on Browning is a success.  Mid-winter sports exhibition held.  New Dickinsonian board announced.  Editor responds to hazing controversy.  1912 Microcosm board members announced. 

The Musical Clubs went on their annual spring tour around Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. The baseball team loses the first two games of the season to St. Joseph’s College and the Army at West Point. The freshmen beat the sophomores in the Mid-Winter Sports.

Week of Prayer ends.  Measles quarantine of Metzger's first floor ends.  Indoor Sports Meet is held.  GPAs of the fraternities for the previous semester.  Class Day is planned.

Interfraternity Dance held.  A Metzgerite comes down with a case of measles.  Mid-Winter Sports event planned.

Annual Indoor Meet is held.  Sigma Alpha Epsilon holds annual Founders' Day dance.  Metzger Glee Club performs.  Pi Beta Phi initiates new members. 

Mid-Winter Sports event is held.  Program for musical clubs' spring tour.  A proposed amendment to the honor system does not receive the required majority vote.  Kappa Sigma holds eighth annual Mid-Winter Dance.  Herr Waldemar Alfredo and his German players perform in Bosler.  Final exam schedule.  A.D. Roorbach argues against the adoption of military training at Dickinson.  Belles Lettres elects officers.

The editors comment on the hazing tragedy at Cornell which led to the death of a cook, and on hazing at colleges in general.  The discussion on the Day of Prayer continues with a representation of the faculty's perspective.  The editors discuss the worth of examinations for education.  The Union Philosophical Society elects its officers for the year.  The Annual Mid-winter Sports are held in the gym, with a tie for first between the freshmen and sophomores.

Annual Mid-Winter Sports event is held.  L. Wellington Johnson, Elmer L. Williams and Frank P. Fleegal of the Union Philosophical Society defeat Thomas J. Towers, George L. Reed and George E. Mark of Belles Lettres in the annual inter-society debate on a question of arbitration in strikes.  The Dickinson Library Guild petitions the Board of Trustees for approval of its existence and work.  Union Philosophical Society elects officers.

Dramatic Club performs Charley's Aunt.  Program for Mid-Winter Sports is announced.

A lecture on the biography of historic Justice Roger Taney is given in Bosler Hall. The results of the Mid-Winter Sports are announced. The Debate Team prepares for a debate with State College. The annual reunion of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity was held in Baltimore. Sigma Alpha Epsilon celebrated the 43rd anniversary of their founding. The Union Philosophical Society elects new members for the spring.

The Inter-Society Debate between the Union Philosophical Society and the Belles Lettres Society took place in Bosler Hall. The Belles Lettres Society won. The state convention for the Y. M. C. A. is held. A reader responds to the Dickinsonian's negative comments about the Law School. An address entitled “Carlisle Before and During the Revolution” is given at the Women’s Civic Club of Carlisle. The Mid-winter sports will begin on Friday.
