1975 College-Community Orchestra Spring Concert

The College-Community Orchestra presented their spring concert, dedicated to Dr. and Mrs. Howard L. Rubendall, at 8:00pm in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. The Brass Ensemble played the prelude to the concert and then the orchestra played Felix Mendelssohn's "Ouverture fur Harmoniemusik", Johannes Brahms' "Liebeslieder Waltzers" and Max Bruch's "Kol Nidre Adagio for Violoncello and Orchestra". After the intermission, they continued with Edouard Lalo's "Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra" and George Frederick Handel's "Utrecht Jubilate". 

Cindy Hill Performs

Student Cindy Hill performed in her vocal recital at 3:30pm in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. Presented by the Department of Music, her show was comprised of fourteen songs: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Oiseaux, si tous les ans", "Abendempfindung", and "Warnung"; Franz Schubert's "Fruhlingsglaube", "Wehmut", and "An die Musik"; Gioacchino Rossini's "La Danza"; Giacomo Puccini's "Un bel di"; Gabriel Faure's "Mandoline"; Joseph-Hector Fiocco's "Lamentatio Tertia"; and Psalms 134, 142, 148, 150. 

1975 Student Recital

Dickinson students Jeanne Hartman (vocals) , Tim Konkus (piano), and Jane Gilmore (flute), and Gettysburg student Sue Short (piano) performed in a music recital at 3:00pm in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. Noonday Concert

The Music Department presented the first Noonday Concert of the 1974-1975 academic year in Memorial Hall. Students and faculty performed James Hook's "Sonata for three flutes", Franz Schubert's "Der Wanderer" and "Wanderers Nachtlied", Gustav Mahler's "Um Mitternacht", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Prelude and Fuga" from The Well-Tempered Clavichord, Claude Debussy's "Jimbo's Lullaby" and "Golliwogg's Cake Walk", Bach's "Gott ist Unser Sonn und Schild" from Cantata 79, and A. Barthe's " Passacaille". 

1974 Parents Day Concert

The Department of Music presented a concert for the 1974 Parents Day at 10:45am in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. The program opened with a prelude played by the Brass Ensemble. Then the College Choir and College-Community Orchestra performed Franz Schubert's "Stabat Mater", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Lobet den Herren alle Heiden", and four Slovak folk songs by Bela Bartok: "Wedding Song from Poniky", "Song of the Hayharvesters from Hiadel", "Dancing Song from Medzibrod", and "Dancing Song from Poniky".

Noonday Concert

The Department of Music presented the third Noonday Concert of the 1974-1975 academic year in Memorial Hall. Students and faculty performed Anton Reicha's "Allegro moderato from Quintet VII", Frederic Chopin's "Fantasie Impromptu", Dickinson student Jonathan Means' "Piece for guitar", Franz Schubert's "Die Wetterfahne" and "Getrorne Tranen", Henry Purcell's "Arise, Ye Subterranean Winds", Richard Wagner's "Adagio for clarinet  and piano", Claude Debussy's "Ballet" from Petit Suite, and George Gershwin's "Preludes No. II and III". 

Choir and Orchestra Present "Celebrating the Centennial of Charles Ives"

The College Choir and College-Community Orchestra gave a concert in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium at 8:00pm. Presented by the Department of Music, the show featured the work of Charles Ives, including "At the River", "Two Little Flowers", "Dreams", "The Last Reader", "Autumn", "There is a Lane", "Childrens' Hour", "They are There", "Psalm 90", "Serenity", and "The Circus Band".

The program for the show featured Maurice Ravel's "Sonatine", Eva Dell-Acqua's "Villanelle", Michel Blavet's "Sonata VI", Igor Stravinsky's "Three Pieces for Clarinet Solo", Matyas Seiber's "Andantino Pastorale", Thomas Arne's "Come, Calm Content", Giovanni Bonocini's "Piu Vaga e Vezzosetta", Sergei Rachmaninof's "Prelude in C Minor", Giuseppe Verdi's "Il balen", Franz Danzi's "Quintet in B major". 

Jean Hartman Gives Recital

Student vocalist Jean Hartman, accompanied by pianist Steve Heller and flutist Jeanette Millard, gave a recital at 3:30pm in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. Her program included Albert Roussel's "Ciel, aer et vens"; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Bester Jungling"; Robert Schumann's "Im Wunderschonen Monat Mai", "Wenn ich in deine Augen seh", "Und wussten's die Blumen", and "Am leuchtenden Sommer Morgen"; Samuel Barber's "The Daisies" and "Sure on this Shining Night"; and Johann Sebastian Bach's "Susser Trost".

Students and faculty performed Walter Bergmann's "Greensleeves", Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Sonata in F Major", the second movement of J.J. Quantz's "Concerto in G Major", Mozart's "Das Veilchen", Jean Baptiste Loeillet's "Sonata in D Minor", Mozart's "La ci Darem la Mano", and Gioacchino Rossini's "Duetto Buffo di due Gatti". 

Collegium Musicum and Brass Ensemble Perform in Harrisburg

Collegium Musicum and the Brass Ensemble presented "A Concert of Vocal and Instrumental Chamber Music" at 12:00pm at the Pennsylvania State Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They performed T.L. de Victoria's "Ascendens Christus", Nicolas Gombert's "Dezilde al Caballero", Josquin Des Prez's "El Grillo", Carlos Salzedo's "Fraicheur", Charles Gounod's "Ave Maria", Jean Joseph Mouret's "Rondeau", Jean Baptiste Loeillet's "Quintet in B minor", Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Soave sia il Vento", and Giovanni Gabrieli's "Canzon noni toni".
