1976 Parents' Day Concert

The Music Department presented the 1976 Parents' Day Concert at 11:00am in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. The Collegium Musicum performed seven songs: Adler/Sentl's "Da Jakob nu das Kleid ansah", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Menuets I and II", Thomas Tallis' "O nata lux", Passereau's "Il est bel et bon", Jacques Arcadelt's "Laissez la verde couleur", and the anonymously-written songs "Ich hett mir ein Endlein furgenommen" and "Die Katzenpfote". The College-Community Orchestra performed Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures from an Exhibition" and accompanied the College Choir in Giovanni

Noonday Concert

The Music Department presented the second Noonday Concert of the 1976-1977 academic year in Memorial Hall. The program included Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Serenade in B-flat major", "When a girl is almost fifteen", "O Isis und Osiris", and "In diesen heiligen Halle"; Frederic Chopin's "Impromptu in A-flat major"; Robert Fairfax Birch's "Willow"; Benjamin Britten's "Metamorphoses After Ovid for solo oboe"; and Franz Schubert's "Impromptu in A-flat major".  

John Paul White Performs

Bass John Paul White gave a vocal recital at 8:00pm in Memorial Hall. Accompanied by Thomas Jaber, White performed Purcell's "Arise Ye Subterranean Winds" and "The Owl is Abroad", Lulli's "Il faut passer", Flegier's "Le Cor", Saint Saens' "Danse Macabre", Mozart's "Per Questa Bella Mano", Wolf's "Michelangelo Lieder", Vaughn-Williams' "Vagabond", and Verdi's "Ella giammai m'amo".  

Lucktenberg Duo Performs

Violinist Jerrie Lucktenberg and Keyboardist George Lucktenberg gave a concert at 8:00pm in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. The Lucktenberg Duo played Francesco Geminiani's "Allegro assai in A minor", Heinrich Biber's "Sonata X in G minor", Domenico Scarlatti's "Sonatas for Harpsichord", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Sonata for Violin Alone", Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Adagio in B minor", and Ludwig van Beethoven's "Sonata in F Major (Spring)". 

Noonday Concert

The Music Department presented the first Noonday Concert of the 1976-1977 academic year in Memorial Hall. Featuring artists of the applied music faculty, the program included Georg Philipp Telemann's "Concerto a tre", John Dowland's "Shall I sue, shall I seek for grace" and "Awake, sweet love, thou art returned", Esajas Reusner's "Paduana", Jean Rivier's "Oiseaux Tendres", George Frideric Handel's "Nel dolce dell'oblio", and Franz Schubert's "Sonatina". 

Toronto Consort Performs

The Toronto Consort presented Music for Lorenzo the Magnificent at 8:00pm in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. In honor of the great Florentine patron of the arts, the consort performed Heinrich Isaac's "Palle, palle", "Ne piu bella di questi", "Questo mostrarsi", "Un di lieto giamai non hebbi, "La Bassa Danza", and "Alla battaglia"; Josquin des Pres' "La Spagna" and "Helas madame"; Alexander Coppinus' "Canto di lanzi cozzoni"; and the anonymously-written songs "Canto delle palle" and "Basse danse La Spagne".

The Music Department Presented the seventh Noonday Concert of the 1975-1976 academic year in Memorial Hall. Students and faculty performed Francois Devienne's "Ouverture", George Frideric Handel's "Where ere you walk", Gioacchino Rossini's "Bel raggio lusinghier", Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Sonata in D Major for piano four hands", Jacob Arcadelt's "Fatto son esca della donna mia" and "Laisses la verde couleur", Frederic Chopin's "Waltz in A-flat major", and Ludwig von Beethoven's "Mir ist so wunderbar" and "Ha! Welch ein Augenblick". 

1976 College-Community Orchestra Spring Concert

The College-Community Orchestra presented their spring concert at 8:00pm in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. They played Biagio Marini's "Canzon Ottava (1626)", Giovanni Battista Buonamente's "Sonata (1636), Giovanni Gabrieli's "Sonata Octavi Toni (1597)", George F. Handel's "Cara Sposa", Jean Philippe Rameau's "Nature Amour", C.W. von Gluck's "Che faro senza Euridice", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 in F major", Antonio Vivaldi's "Concerto in A minor", Claude Debussy's "Danses sacree et profane", and Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition".

The Department of Music presented the sixth Noonday Concert of the 1975-1976 academic year in Memorial Hall. Students and faculty performed such pieces as Johannes Brahms' "Scherzo from Trio in E-flat"; Franz Schubert's "Impromptu in A-flat minor"; Alessandro Scarlatti's "Piu m'impiaga quel ciglio nero", "Quanto peni anima mia", and "Marmi adorati e cari"; Samuel Barber's "Sonata for Cello and Piano"; a quartet from Ludwig van Beethoven's Fidelio; Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Prelude in C-sharp minor"; and Joseph Jongen's "Elegy".

Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Orchestra Performs

The Pittsburgh Symphony Chamber Orchestra gave a concert at 8:00pm in Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium. The concert was presented as a part of the orchestra's six-day residency at Dickinson College. They played Villa-Lobos' "Bachianas Brasileiras", Beethoven's "Concerto No. 4", Barber's "Knoxville: Summer of 1915", and Falla's "El Amor Brujo".

Noonday Concert

The Department of Music presented the fifth Noonday Concert of the 1975-1976 academic year in Memorial Hall. The program included Richard Strauss' "Serenade (1881)", George Gershwin's "Allegro ben ritamto e deciso" and "Andante con moto e poco rubato", Claude Le Jeune's "Le feu, l'air, l'eau, la terre" and "Il est bel et bon", Johann Sebastian Bach's "Prelude and Fugue", Johannes Brahms' "Rhapsody in G Minor", and "Carlo Salzedo's "Variations on a Theme in Ancient Style". 

1970 Dance Concert

Kathy Engle, Sue Dreisbach, Susan Morrel, Valerie Perko, and Pamela Posey performed self-choreographed dances in a concert on November 23, 1970.  They danced to music written by Professor Malcolm Goldstein.  Mrs. Carol Goldstein directed the show and led the students in choreographing their dances.
