Jim Hoefler, Professor of Political Science, announces his bid for a Pennsylvania State Senate seat. Debate over the use of the Depot on campus. Large centerfold on the details of the Public Affairs Symposium. Despite losing its last three games, the Women's Basketball team heads for play-offs. Three Dickinsonians are named to the All-Conference Team: Annie Guzek, Gretchen Muller, and Nate Brought.

A student assaults a fellow student late at night in the house of his ex girlfriend. He is arrested and and suspended from campus until further notice. Student Senate completely cuts funding for single-sex organizations on campus as per a previously unenforced bylaw. Delta Sigma Theta, a historically prominently black sorority, earns a charter from Dickinson College. The Sigma Phi chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity is nominated for ten national awards. Two members of the baseball team are named to the Centennial Conference Team for their achievements during the season.

Daniel Schorr delivers the keynote speech to this years Public Affairs Symposium entitled "The Trouble with Television--Biting the Hand that Fed Me." Students debate the nature of advertising, using a recent Pepsi commercial featuring a chimp as the topic of discussion. Common Hour sees a continuation if the PAS topic of Media with a discussion on how ethnic stereotypes are portrayed to Americans. A survey given to students reveals their opinions on racism at Dickinson. Graduate school programs become increasingly more selective due to the wavering economy.
