Dickinson beat by Carlisle Indians in footbal.  Law School opens for the semester.  Delta Chi holds a smoker.  Lack of encouragement for debating and public speaking on campus. Third and Second Section hold their annual late night "feeds".  Harrisburg lawyer Mr. Loeser, Esq. gives lecture on "The Loan Shark."  Green Freshmen caps delivered and widely worn on campus.  The Freshmen class elects officers.

Dickinsonian, March 12, 1898

Through the courtesty of Captain Richard Henry Pratt, the students of Dickinson were permitted to witness the graduation ceremonies of the Carlisle Indian School.  Dickinson agrees to a three-year agreement for intercollegiate debates with Penn State University at State College.

In this special edition circulated for Alumni, Dickinson returns to debating as part of the Inter Collegiate Debating League of Penna, The Library Guild asks for small donations to be contributed directly to the endowment of the library, and The Honor Guild is formed combat "unfairness on the part of students in examinations.".

At the Tau Kappa Alpha Convention, Leon Robinson receives first prize for debate. Robert E. Banker and Beatrice V. Sautter both earn French exchange awards. Dickinson Tennis beats Lebanon Valley. Golf team wins first match of the season against Gettysburg College. Track team beats Juniata at first home meet, and Jerry Darr sets a new record in hurdles.
