Jorge Luis Borges opened his symposium on Wednesday night by giving a lecture on the poetry of Emily Dickinson and engaging the audience with a question and answer period. Yale's Insider's Guide to the Colleges drew negative responses from Dickinson's administration after the guide claimed that alcohol and "dope" were a large part of Dickinson's social scene. Professor Robert Dunn is offering a summer course in New York City regarding trends in writing and publishing.

New construction on campus, completion of 'Townhouses' on Louther. Housing shortage on campus results from larger freshman class, improved retention rate. College changes alcohol policy regarding kegs on campus, restricting them to fraternity housing only. Denny Hall completely renovated for first time since 1905, while additions to Snack Bar (Snar) lag behind schedule. Phi Kappa Sigma suspended for two years. Review of campus alcohol policies nationwide and on campus. Music review of Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A." and accompanying concert tour.

John Hershey has resigned as director of resident to take another job at Macalester College. Sexuality Education Week will feature Mary Koss, who travels throughout the country conducting workshops about campus violence. An open forum, sponsored by the College Republicans, discusses the alcohol situation on campus with the students body. Hypnotist James Mapes has once again come to Dickinson to perform his skills on the students.

Elections by the All-College Committee were declared "invalid" by Student Senate President Dean Kremer due to the election being "unconstitutional." Panhellenic officers are considering Tri-Delta or Delta Delta Delta as a sixth sorority. Vehicle registration for the campus is now free of charge. John Hershey, director of Student Life, moved students around to different houses on campus to create a "magical" solution to the housing crisis. New football coach, Ed Sweeney, led the football team to a win in a scrimmage.
