The Belles Lettres and Union Philosophical Societies abolish their initiation fees.  The Belles Lettres Sophomore Contest  and Union Philosophical Society Sophomore Contest are held.  A group of undergraduate students steal from a senior reception two freezers full of ice cream.  Students visit Gettysburg Battlefield on Decoration Day.  The second annual Field Day of the State Inter-Collegiate Athletic Association of Pennsylvania is held.  Dickinson ties Pennsylvania College at Gettysburg in baseball. 

The Class Tree of 1873 is sawed down in an act of vandalism.  The seniors go on the traditional class ride.  The baseball team goes undefeated for 6 games against Mechanicsburg, Lehigh, Chambersburg, and Carlisle. 

The Union Philosophical Society celebrates its 98th anniversary in Bosler Memorial Hall. The walk between West College and South College is "almost impassible" in rainy weather.

The legal battle between the Faculty and a reprimanded student over the issue of freshman hazing reaches a peak when Judge Sadler issues a mandamus against the Faculty.  To this point, a very detailed summary of the case proceedings is presented.  Mr. W. C. Allison, a benefactor of the college, visits and pledges more money so that the gymnasium can be supplied with proper equipment.  The Belles Lettres Society holds its annual anniversary banquet.

A legal case agaisnt the Faculty erupts after a student is suspended for the hazing of a Freshman student earlier in the school year, and multiple students are called to testify.  Funds are raised to equip the new gymnasium with equipment.

The history, present condition, and staff of the college are all outlined in an extensive piece.  The college's Philharmonic Club is reorganized.

Phi Beta Kappa is granted a charter for Dickinson College.  The football program comes under scrutiny after the death of E. Herbert Garrison the previous month.  Rumors fly around the school regarding the admittance of a "colored boy" in the Preparatory School, as well as the hazing of a Freshman student the previous month as a punishment for honorable conduct.

Strong censure is placed on some members of the Freshmen class after they haze a fellow first-year student as punishment for attending recitation on time.  A Mr. W. C. Allison of Philadelphia donates funds so that Memorial Hall can be heated in the winter.  Dickinson loses a football game to Lehigh 0 to 26, and against Lafayette 24 to 5.  E.

A portrait of Mr. Jacob Tome, donor of the Tome Scientific Building, is placed in the lecture hall of Dr. Himes.  South College undergoes dramatic renovation and is renamed the Preparatory School.  Freshman lose the Cane Rush. 

Commencement and Junior Oratorical Contest speeches are summarized and published.  The 102nd annual Commencement is held, as well as the Junior contest and alumni reunions for classes and for the societies.  Professor Little leaves Dickinson despite a petition by the students that the Trustees should make every possible effort to retain him.  The Sigma Chi Fraternity is re-established.  Praise is given to Miss Bender for receiving the Greek Award, a signal of the falsehood of the theory of the inferiority of women.
