Aquacade Club to present annual show entitled, "Water Vagabonds". Harry E. Fosdick and W. Emory Hartman to address chapels. Campus clubs usher in holiday season with a number of themed events. Gershwin Concert Orchestra to give recital on campus. First year since 1901 that the heretofore annual Doll Dance will not be held.

Fifteen Dickinson students chosen to represent "Who's Who" among the American university and college students. ROTC selects nominees for female representative, seven to be elected at the Military Ball. Noted author and lecturer James T. Flexner to speak on British spy Major John Andre and his internment in Carlisle. Unbeaten 1937 football team to hold reunion at South College.

Dickinsonian, October 30, 1953

Annual Dickinson College Campus Chest Drive begins, sponsored by Interfaith Council. Under the direction of Prof. John Steckbeck, the newly reorganized Dickinson College Choir plans programs for their fall season. Mermaid Players to perform "The Importance of Being Earnest". Board of Trustees to proceed with the construction of a Student Activities Building to replace the facilities lost by the collapse of the College Commons.

Students travel to New York to visit United Nations building and attend various committees. College president Dr. William Edel attends President Eisenhower's birthday party at Hershey as a guest of Colonel Ketchem, financial advisor to the Republican National Committee. College Commons falls down after a lightning storm. Spotlight on Prof. Richard "Mac" MacAndrews.

Recent graduate Donald Shapiro receives two national awards for noteworthy undergraduate achievement. Violinist Yehudi Menuhin to play in Bosler. Carlisle Players to present the play "The Night of January 16th", College faculty and students to participate. Former VP of Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company H.G. Kenagy appointed new assistant to the president the College and public relations head.

Former professor Donald Morrison appointed head of the State Civil Service Commission. College to offer evening courses to Carlisle residents. World University Service Conference to be held at the College. Mermaid Players announce expansion of program. Former professor Eric Barnes accepts position as chair of American Civilization at the Free University of Berlin, new director of the University's Institute of American Studies.
