The Sophomore Contest is held in Emory Chapel.  Dickinson beats Pennsylvania in baseball 21 to 15, and ties with Franklin and Marshall in a rained-out 5 inning game.  The 99th Annual Commencement Ceremonies are held.

The fraternities publish two Annuals of the college: the Minutal from the Beta Theta Pi fraternity, and the Microcosm from the other chapters.  Freshmen are chastised for stealing eggs from birds’ nests.  A fundraiser is put on by the Dramatic Association in support of the college baseball team, which was well attended by students and Carlisle residents.

Requests from the students for reduced fair rates on the Philadelphia Railroad are denied in the wake of conflicts with fare rates over winter break.  Plans to create a Dickinson songbook are scrapped.  The Inter-Collegiate Oratorical Contest is cancelled due to lack of interest.  Seniors are invited to share supper with Dr. and Mrs. Harman.  The Philadelphia Dickinson Alumni Association holds a banquet.

The Historian Edward A. Freeman of England visits Dickinson College, putting on a lecture concerning South-Eastern Europe in the First Presbyterian Church.  The college walkways are improved.  The sophomores hold a banquet.

The Union Philosophical Society holds their anniversary, while the Belles Lettres Society opts not to.    The boys on campus hold a “Stag Dance” in the basement of Old West.

Students bemoan an attempt by the faculty to have them return early from winter break.  Rumors that a professor will be leaving the school are dispelled.  Annie Little, the daughter of Professor Little, dies and is buried.

Students are admonished for their tendency to gossip about Carlisle’s residents.  The freshman and sophomores have a fight in front of Old West for the privilege to carry canes.  Allegheny College requests representatives from Dickinson are present at an Inter-Collegiate Oratorical Contest in which many local schools are involved.

Fraternity fighting is sharp and competitive.  The freshman and sophomore baseball teams play one another, with the freshmen winning 14-9.  The sophomores adopt a “class hat.”  Students present orations in the College Chapel.

The Dickinsonian is revived after a two-year stint of absence.  The baseball team beats out Gettysburg in a close game of 9 to 5, decided in the last two innings after a 4-4 tie after the seventh.  A memorial service is held for President James Garfield.  The seniors reinstate the Commencement Week tradition of Class Day.  The baseball team plays two games against the Harrisburg Anchors, losing 11-6.
